Re: New members - introduce yourself here.

Hey all. I'm from Chicago, in college, been playing guitar for about 6 years. I was in 8th grade at the time and really into Korn (embarrassing, yes) and that's the reason I started playing guitar and wanted an ibanez in the first place. I always wanted a 7 string UV and I actually like the green pickups/knobs/dots, I know a lot of people don't. I eventually decided a 7 string wasn't for me, but I've always loved the feel of Ibanez guitars! I have an s series right now, looking for an rg550, eventually getting a jem though!

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.

Oi. I just joined up here because it seems to be THE place to talk about equipment, especially 7 stringers. I'm not much of an Ibanez man, actually. I play Schecter right now as my main axe (Baritone strings down to A for my band right now), but I'm planning on going Carvin for a 7 stringer.

My current gear as of now is:
Schecter Omen 6, EMG 81/85
Epiphone '58 Goth Explorer, SD Screamin Demon, '59
Genz Benz El Diablo 100 head
Genz Benz GFlex 2x12 cab
BBE 482i Maximizer
Alesis 3630 Compressor

I've already learned tons just lurking around here a few days. Almost anything you google dealing with 7 strings comes to here, anyway =)

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.

Greetings,

I'm Randy G, and own a black 1989 RG560 (from Strings 'n' Things in Memphis). Other electrics include a 1986 Charvel Model 3 and a Jackson DK2. My rig is a Digitech TwinTube, ART Multiverb III and a Peavey Classic 60/60 feeding a 1986 Randall 4x12. I get a good sound out of these parts for my taste, and that's all that matters.

Graduated from University of Memphis (B.A. in Sound Engineering/Recording), and am currently a sound engineer at KGBT-TV in south Texas.

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.

I guess I should introduce myself after 11 posts.

I played guitar for 15 yrs. and I'm coming off a 8 yr. hiatus. I worked for a major music store chain in the Northeast for 12 yrs. (ran a store for 9 yrs) which is one of the reasons I stopped playing for 8 yrs. I had become really cynical dealing with the general public for so many years and it soured the whole deal (playing guitar) for me.

Anyway, I've had a lot of people at work asking me questions about guitars lately which got me to thinking if I wanted to start playing again

I've owned a lot of guitars over the years (too many to remember but I owned 13 total at one time). When I decided to get back into it, I knew exactly which guitar I wanted - a PGM301. I used to own a PGM100 and it was my favorite all around guitar. right now I'm just waiting for Rich (Ibanez Rules!) to deliver it when I get back from a business trip next week. Until then, I'm creating exercises for myself in Power Tab so when I get the guitar, I will be ready.

Over the years, I've recorded a few tunes and finally decided it was time to get them off of cassette and convert them to MP3s. I hadn't listened to my recordings in years and, after I did that, I realized how much I missed making music. I forgot why I started playing guitar in the first place. I have music in me that I have to get out. I don't want to be rock star or use my guitar to pick up girls (I've been with the same one for 10 yrs.). I realized that I don't want to play - I need to play. I realized I hadn't been myself for years because I hadn't been making music. I had a spiritual reawakening if you will.

Beyond that, I'll let the music do the talking. If you want to hear some "old" recordings (from 1988 to 199, give these a listen. All together, they run 11 minutes. The first 2 are the newest and what I consider the best as far as recording quality and playing. The first track is just a drum machine (recorded in stereo) and 6 tracks of guitar. There's no bass but the rhythm tracks have enough low end (thanks to the Tone Zone) that you won't miss it. The rest are just snapshots in time so take them for what they're worth.

My two main influences are Paul Gilbert and Brian May, both of whom I've had the good fortune to meet in person, but you'll probably notice when you hear the first track.

Hi! My name is Alessandro, from Italy. I've been reading this forum for a long time and saw people here are very cool and openminded. I've been playing guitar for about 13 years and own a Jem777dy (the most veratile guitar I've ever found). I like Ibanez guitars very much for theyr quality despite theyr low price, that's not too hig like for other brands.
If you want you can visit the site of my band here http://cronica.mine.nu
So, that's all at the time!
See you!
