Re: New members - introduce yourself here.
I've been playing for 20 years now. I played the same 1989 RG570 for nearly half that time. I switched to Jacksons, but am now wanting to switch back to Ibanez. Having played both Jacksons and Ibanezes I love both guitars, however, there are some disparities in Ibanez's favor.
I'M IN THE MARKET TO BUY A FAIRLY PRICED IBANEZ GUITAR. So if you've got one to sell, I'm a potential buyer
My musical influences are too numerous to mention. Some of them are (not in any particular order)
Yngwie Malmsteen
, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Tony MacAlpine, Paul Gilbert, George Lynch, Vinnie Moore. I would say those are my main influences. I love to play in minor modes simply because its darkness is so suitable for Metal, but my songwriting doesn't reflect that. I play like that when I'm just having fun and enjoying myself.
My "rig" (if you want to call it that) is mainly a Mesa Recto set on Vintage because I like the richer high gain sound with lots of the mids preserved (I despise the "nu-metal" sound), and 2 or 3 Boss pedals. I am extremely pleased with Boss effects. I don't go for many sounds. I just want my high gain sound, a moderate gain for dirty blues and a clean. I love the Mesa rectifier sound but at times when I don't own a Mesa I just want a good quality tube head and I can put a Boss overdrive pedal in front of it. I'm not big into effects. I'm happy with just a little slap back echo, some reverb for depthy and maybe chorus at times with the modulation set to make my high notes wail.
I like
Seymour Duncans
(JB+Jazz/JB+59) when playing guitars made with "tone wood" such as Mahogany. I am currently interested in making a shift to Dimarzios..possibly Air Norton+Tone Zone..I'm looking forward to communicating with you all about that.
I'm new here and I hope to be a regular.

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.
Hello everybod, my name is avi and I'm 35. I've been using jemsite as a source of information for a while now and hope I can contribute something back from my experience as a player for 17 years now. I play mostly on fender guitars but I do agree that
steve vai
is the
jimi hendrix
of our time.
I used to own a desert yellow jem but sold it after a while. I'm probably gonna get me another one sometimes in the near future.
I'm from israel.

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.
hello everybody, I'm not an Ibanez owners, but I love this brand and i'll ending with one of their axes someday.
I wish i have a Js and RG550DY (so cool).
I listen very different style of music, but mainly Rock(60 to 90), (no modern metal), I've been listen to jazz for a long time, but I'm more in a rocky mood
I'm a somewhat poor player, but i can't help it i love guitar
I own a destroyed Epi Lespaul custom that needs new nut, tuners and a good fret job, and a RGX420s Yamaha very good for the price I think.
I played for more than ten years and for almost two years I ve been playing on a ad30vt Vox that i'm in love with lol.
I want to thank who go out of their way to help person, giving this site a lot of ressources and help even for not Ibanez owners.
Voila Have a good qay every body
PS: my english is poor and my american girlfriend haven't so far manage to improve it enought

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.
Hi,
I'm Alex, from Barcelona, Spain, 28 years old. I have been playing for about ten years, but not much seriously in the last 7 or so... (studies...) Recently I have picked it up again and prectising a lot.
I wish I would be able to learn all that stuff about scales and modes, and to keep in mind the harmony of what's going on in the back when I solo. For the moment I do it all by ear...
My gear is a
-Old valvestate Marshall 80W
-POD xt live
-Yamaha RGX421
-Ibanez RG770fm (just bought this weekend... incredible!)
-A bunch of cables
I listen to anything from blues-jazz-rock-metal... even some chillout, but mainly play rock-hard rock-metal.
My recent discovery is Freak Kitchen. These guys are amazing!
Cheers.

Welcome to Jemsite!
That sounds like a rather nice rig you've got there. How about some pictures?

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.
My name is Tony I have been searching this site from time to time since I started playing about eight years ago. I have a Jem 10th #206 (recently acquired) and a Jem 555 modded with emgs and a lo pro trem all running through a Hughes and Kettner WARP half stack. Being replaced shortly with an
ENGL Powerball
and a Custom Cab. I am lead guitarist for a band called Dropfuse we are located out of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. We are all Active Duty Marines. Hopefully you'll hear of us from someone other than me.

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.
Hey everyone, my name is Dave. I've browsed the site a couple of times looking at some of the various Ibanez information on it, but never really paid much attention to the forums. So I thought I'd join up as I'm always looking for more folks to talk about music/guitars with. And given that I'm a bit of an Ibanez freak, I thought this would be a good place for me.
Here's a picture of my Ibanez collection:
Left to right:
- 1992 RG550 - That's a custom paint job I did, obvously not a real DY. This one now has EMG 81/SA/60 pickups in it and is my main guitar at the moment.
- 1997 RG270 - Nothing on this guitar is original at this point beyond the body and its paint job. It's had like four different sets of pickups, three trems, two necks, etc.
- 2002 Jem 7VSBL - Dead stock (an extreme rarity for me)
- 2000 (?) RG320 - Retrofitted with an Edge trem and matching cosmo
chrome hardware
, this one sadly has no pickups at the moment. Still deciding what to do next with it.
- 1993 RT452 - Stock beyond replaced control knobs.
- Unknown year RG520 with an RG270 neck - Here's where the original neck from my 270 ended up. This one has a fabric-topped finish that I did myself and a set of Duncan JB/Jazz pickups.
- 1999 (?) RG7620 - My newest guitar, assembled from a seperate body, neck and Edge-7 purchased on ****. I may re-finish it some day with another fabric-topped job, but the black finish on it is actually in decent shape so I'm undecided.
I have a handful of other guitars and basses, though few are particularly interesting. I play guitar purely for my own enjoyment, doing bedroom-based recordings of cover tunes on a computer. I've been playing for about 14 years now, though I only started really growing my
guitar collection
within the last 5 or so. The RG270 is my only Ibanez that was purchased brand new and it was only my second guitar at the time.
As implied by the descriptions above, I do a lot of building, wiring and general customization on my guitars and often find that to be almost as much fine as playing the darn things.

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.
Hi,
Name's Clive (stating the obvious maybe?). I'm currently building my own Iceman and installing an Edge lo pro trem' system but can't find a template to route out the cavity. Anyone out there with any ideas? The ones on Ibanezrules are not right for the lo pro.
Cheers,
