Re: New members - introduce yourself here.
Hello Everyone,
Allow myself to introduce....myself. My real name is Scott & I currently reside in Colorado. I have been
playing guitar
for 20+ years and have been playing Ibanez for about 15 of those years. I currently play a RG7420 & RG 3 EX1, along with an SR405 bass. My main influences are
Joe Satriani
, Iron Maiden, Dream Theater & Symphony X.
I'm trying to learn how to get into computer recording now so I can actually remember riffs I come up with.
Nice to meet you all and see ya around the boards.

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.
Hi everyone,
My name is Mike, from Belgium, playing for about 12 years. I've been on the Jemsite forum for a few weeks, time for some introduction
My actual guitars are a RG570 (EMG81 on bridge) and a JS1000BTB. In the past I was a real gearhead, changing an trying lots of things, racks, stacks, effects etc, but at a given point I was really tired of it and for myself I came to the conclusion that the best match you could have with amps was in a combo or dedicated stack. So now I own a Mesa/Boogie DualCaliber DC-5 combo, and simply a Boss DS1 (Robert
Keeley mod
) and
Jim Dunlop
535Q Crybaby (besides that a Boss GT-3, to fidle around but mainly having a volumecontrol
). Just plug and play is the moto
Here are some pics. Since I bought my JS1000BTB very recently, I'm gonna post some other pics in the JS forum.
Cya later.

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.
Hi there my name is Atheesan from Bromley in Kent, United Kingdom. I am totally new to this forum thingy so please bear with me.
I am also totally new to the world of Ibanez having been stuck in what I would call a time warp for the last 30 odd years (I am actually older than that!!!), playing the old Grandfathers of Gibson's and Fenders. Do not get me wrong they really do have their place. I would describe my playing as basic (shredding and sweep picking are totally alien to me).
Ibanez however, in my eyes, really does open up new realms by bringing in 21st Century technology and more importantly by virtue of their apparent versatility, make customising and creating real individual works of art and music a reality.
I say apparent versatility, I have never ever played a real one yet!!!
My first exposure to double octave necks and Floyd Rose type locking tremolos has been a very cheap guitar kit available on that famous internet auction site with a wicked Chinese Dragon inlay along the fingerboard (made in China?!!!). I just had the courage to wield a cordless drill, a screwdriver and file to put this thing together and well it has just inspired me to look at the real McCoy.
I have stumbled across Ibanez by accident in the last 3-4 months, and that curiosity has led me to purchase from Richard Fay based overhere in Devon an Ibanez RG570 body that he has refinished beautifully in a DNA swirl. This has kick started a long time ambition of mine to put together a quality guitar using totally genuine components that will be personal to me. Originally I was going to put a Fender Strat together, but hey lets try something different.
So far this first real project is now coming together well, as I say, using a far as totally possible, original components.
To date I have wired it up with special order colour co-ordinated
DiMarzio Pickups
which are not in the conventonal JEM DNA colour layout, EVO 2 Bridge (Black/Green), ISCV2 (Black), EVO (Reverse Zebra Red/Black). Hardware is all original new or used Cosmo Finished Lo Pro Edge,Strap Buttons, Pickup Rings with the proper Bezel screws, Control Knobs,VLX91 5-way switch wired to create the JEM Pickup configurations and the Cavity Covers and screws.Parts sourced through Richard Fay, Richard Harris, Max Cottam and that famous auction site. The only non original hardware will be the switch knob and the 2 screws holding the switch.
For the neck I have an Ibanez ARG570 with a Bubinga Stripe which I am in the process of having the fingerboard replaced by Richard Fay with an Oiled Birds Eye Maple one and hopefully an inlay based,on the DNA Y2K, with the headstock finished with a matching swirl and of course the Cosmo hardware. I tried to post a thread asking for help with getting detailed pictures of a DNA Y2K fingerboard so that we could work on the idea but I have come to realise that I had done so in the member verification process.I have already received a private message from "whatisshredding" who has been most helpful. I will try to copy my request and post it in a suitable spot, I think that more pictures from other sources will not do any harm.
I am currently building up a stock of components for 2 more guitars, one being a JEM, the body made of Alder by
Christopher Woods
and the other I hope to do a fabric finish based on a RG470 body. This will be my very first step to really getting my hands dirty. The ultimate would be to make an instrument entirely from scratch, even trying to make my own pickups. That is a long way off though.
I am glad that I have embarked on this new journey, the help and support that I have received from all the people that I have already mentoned has been amazing, not forgetting the information available from this site and the Project Guitar website. I hope to be able to pass on anything that I may stumble across in the future. Well onwards we go!!!

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.
Hi everyone,
My name is Owen, Im from Scotland, Ive played for about 7 years. Ive been reading the stuff on Jemste for a while, just never registered.
Currently, I do NOT own an Ibanez, although Im saving for a S470DXQM, which I should have the money for in about 3 weeks. I play a 20 year old Squier Strat in
Olympic White
, which, as most people will tell you, beats the pants off any recently made Fenders. I put that through a Line 6 POD, Morley Classic Wah, and some old Guyatone flanger.
I like all sorts of instrumental guitar music, and my favourite guitarists of all time are Jason Becker and
Paul Gilbert
.
Nice to meet you all

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.
Hi all, I'm based in the UK and studying the guitar again after a year off. I like
Steve Vai
especially the DLR albums and SOTT,
Stevie Ray Vaughan
, Hendrix, EVH, Sambora, some Paul Gilbert...I can go on and on...
I play a DY as my main axe at the moment, my favourite Jems are the first 777s, but I like strats, teles, and gretschs too.
This site rules and I waited till I got my jem to join.

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.
Hi My name's Chris and I am an Ibanez junkie....(crowd at Ibanez anonymous says Hi Chris)
I am an Ibanez NUT. I have three jems and my daily use guitar goes from my jem 7dbk to my s540ltd pn. I liked the look and feel of
ibanez guitars
for a long time but was slightly mislead by a fender collector in the early nineties and was led to believe that it had to have binding and see through paint color for a guitar to be good.
Then along came STEVE VAI. I went to G3 and thought cool. When the next G3 came around he and satch were signing autographs at a
local music store
and I jokingly told my friend Julian (the salesman that worked there) that if they had a seven string I would buy it just to have Vai sign it. He said hold on and came back about twenty minutes later with an RG7620 and said it just came in and hadn't come through recieving yet. So I wouldn't look like too much of a jackass I bought it. I still have it and still play it along with a K7 another 7620 S540 R540 JS 1000 that I just got because satch was signing autographs at a local shop and of course a couple other jems an fp and a vwh. No I'm not rich or even close to it. I rarely have a beer, I don't do drugs and I sit at home working on an occasional amp guitar or whatever to make a little extra cash for gear. I buy any Ibanez I see at a good price that I can afford to. I had an RBM 1 but the neck felt too narrow so I sold it and I had a UV777bk but like the K7 better so I sold it as well. I'm not a Korn fan but that is a very nice guitar. I am lucky enough to live close enough to get lessons from Doug Doppler who is on Vai's favored nations label and a great teacher and musician
www.guitar411.com
if you don't know who he is. So at this point I have more Ibanez guitars than gibsons and fenders combined. Just because they are better than any other guitar.

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.
Hi!
I live in Finland and I'm a little different here than others. The thing is that I
play on both sides, left and right. I am born as a lefty but my first guitar was
a right handed stratocopy and I learned to play as a right handed player and
after two years of that my guitar teacher put me to learn to play on my
natural side. So now I'm on my way to become the next Michael Angelo
I am very eager to learn about music and the instruments, mostly guitars..
I have
Ibanez S520EX with selfscalloped neck (never buy a Korean-made guitar!!)
Ibanez RG1570 lefty
Ibanez Jem 7VWH (Has some buzz on the frets, help with that would be nice..)
Digitech GNX1 multieffect pedal (fantastic when you learn to use it!)
Boss Metal Zone
Peavey Bandit
112 100W amp.
