Re: New members - introduce yourself here.

Hi All,

Great discussions here on this forum, lots of useful information.

Have recently purchased a PGM301, it's fantastic, thinking of replacing the bridge paf pro with a ToneZone that I got lying around, but in no hurry.

Slight loosening of the truss rod required at time of purchase. Also need to check the intonation but seems ok.

Apart from this new guitar, all of my super strat style ibanez guitars have floyd bridges, so it's nice to have a fixed bridge for a change.

The guitar is settling in nicely alongside it's brothers in my collection:
JEM7V (SBL)
RGT2020 (SOL)
SZ320 (BLK)
RG560 (my first ibanez, bought in 1989)

Best regards to all.

Hi, my name Akira and I don't have an Ibanez yet but plan on buying one within the next two weeks and was hoping to get your guys' expert advice. I play mostly classic metal but am starting to get into shred.

Cheers!

Hello, I'm Andy J and I've been playing guitar about 7 years now. I have an Epiphone acoustic, a Gordon Smith Graf Deluxe and an Ibanez RG470 - which is my latest acquisition!
I've pretty much registered here for advice, so I'm whacking over to the relevant forum bit now,
later folks,

Andy

Hi, I'm new to this message board. This is a great board! Very good information on all JEM's. I'm 13 and I have only been playing for about 3 months. I have a Fender Strat, but plan on getting a one of a kid JEM?Leagacy setup.

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.

Greetings all, just want to thank all of you for some interesting reading, and Glen what a wonderful site. I am 46 and have loved guitars as long as I can remember. I have owned Les Pauls and strats and other variou brands and they were nice guitars, but I always came back to Ibanez. My first Ibanez was a 1978 Artist. Paid $425 + tax new. It was the guitar of my dreams, the light of my life. It's hard for most people to understand the connection between your soul and a guitar, but it is real. I had it for 14 years when it was stolen (along with everything else I had of any value). I had no insurance. I pleaded "keep everything else, just PLEASE return the guitar", but it would not be. I have owned several artists since then but none ever compared to my original. I now own a RG550 and a RGT3120TDB. The RGT is wonderful but I have always thought of owning a JEM. Don't really like the new models. Maybe an older one. Someday.

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.

hey im a 15 year old guitarist been playin since i was around 13, big supporter/fan of ibanez. i have an RG-170 midnightblue/purple (depends on the light reflecting off of it). always been HUGE fan of Korn, which got me playing guitar in the first place, and ive been wanting to get a 7 string for a long time now, but i dont think im going to get one, simply because im not filthy rich and i gotta save up money for a car.... yeah anyways i really enjoying playing hard rock and heavy metal, but i also like some older stuff, a little punk, james brown , and some other stuff. i like playing in lower tunings from drop B, to drop C, to drop D, to drop D flat, 1/2 step down, 1 step down, 1 1/2 step down, etc. ive got a question and hopefully some of you wizards out there might be able to answer it. when it comes to playing in lower tunings, does the thickness of your strings make any difference? does the neck make any difference? what is the best guitar or types of guitar that i could play for lower tunings, but not a baritone? thanks!
oh and do pickups matter?

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.

Hello. I am on a mission. I realize this may be heresy, but here's the scoop. There is a Jackson guitar that I must have. In order to get this guitar, I need to sell a piece from my collection. I would like to understand the process and capability this site has to assist me with selling a Universe77MC. (serial number is 918665) It is an About Time Design and is pictured on their site. I bought this guitar from the Ibanez booth at the 1992 Dallas Guitar Show. Brook Mays Music brokered the deal. I would also welcome comments regarding my price point which I need to be around $3500 US because if that is an "astronomical" price or way out of the neighborhood, this is not the one to sell to get the Jackson.

thanks for time, this seems to be very nicely put together site of all things JEM......

Happy 4th for those of you in the US...timg

23 years old student from Scotland.
I saved up my pennies and after christmas to buy a new guitar and tried out loads in music shops. I eventually got a strat cos that was the sound I wanted, but I couldn't get the RG1570 out of my head after playing it for a bit. I was even dreaming about playing them!!

Now i'm a convert, and i'm getting an Ibanez in a couple of weeks.

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.

Hello my fellow guitar brothers. My name is Angel, I'm 20 yrs. old, and I'm from Puerto Rico. I've been playing guitar for six years now, constantly exploring different aspects of the instrument's musical soul and trying to blend with it into one persona to find my own voice as a musician. I'm currently working on a degree in music (guitar & composition). I'm really into every musical style, as I think I can get inspiration or ideas from them. My real passion is barroque music to progressive metal, not to forget latin music (It's in my heart). It is wonderful to find a site dedicated to Ibanez Jems, after all Vai's vision of a guitar for the future (in my opinion). It's amazing to be a member of this website. Thank you all!!!
