Re: New members - introduce yourself here.

What up all?

My name is Psycho, Im 38 and currently forming an all original band in Dallas, TX. I bought what I thought was an RG7321 in Early 2000 from guitar center ($400) but I recently found this site and went to the 7 string Specs page and now I believe they accidentally sent me an RG7421. I recently pulled the bridge pickup out and installed a Bareknuckle Warpig in it........It crushes !!!!!!!! I love this guitar

I was out of music for a while and now that Im back I recently purchased an Ibanez TBX150H half stack (to tide me over til I can get a Peavey 6505+ and a vader 4X12 cab) which sounds pretty good for metal.

Anyways ..... Cheers!

Psycho

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.

Hi there,

Just joined up today because I am thinking about building a Jem of my own.

When I was sixteen, and (somewhat) flush from cash from my first summer job, I decided that I wanted a real guitar. The hiccup: I only had one day in Winnipeg to choose which one. My dad and I went to a couple of shops and I knew what I was looking for: a kind of hot Strat with a locking whammy bar, for $500 or less (it was 1987). I tried a few, including a Washburn that I kind of liked, but then I saw her -- the same guitar I had fallen in love with in a magazine- a Jem 777. I had already made up my mind to go with a guitar from another store (a Roadstar 410), but I had to try this Jem.

Unlike most items that I admired in a magazine, this was everything I thought it would be -- perfect for my hands. I played it, and it made everything as effortless as it could be for my limited fingers. The only problem was it cost more than I had made that entire summer.

I went with the Roadstar, which gave me 16 good years before it was stolen.

The next time I played one was at a second-hand shop, It was a Desert Yellow, fairly beat up, but it was $800. I was a starving student at the time, and just couldn't justify it.

Now things are a little different -- I am a "grown up" (yeah right) with a good job, and I would like to get my hands on a Jem. I am thinking the best route will be to build one, either out of prepainted parts, or after learning to paint myself. The other option (which would be easier, if I think about it) would be building a Green Meanie).

So, here i am, looking for advce on paint colours, where to buy disappearing pyramid necks with the original Jem neck contour, and good places to buy bodies that don't kill you with price and customs fees when shipping to Canada.

Looking forward to learning a lot.

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.

Hey guess. Newbie here. I actually signed up a few weeks/months ago but never posted until a got an email from Jemsite wondering if they and basically pissed me off or something?

Hehe... so here I am.

Not actually a Jem owner, I have a J-Custom RG8527vv 7string instead but I'm sure you guys will let that slide.

Seems like a great site for obscure Ibanez related info so I think I'll hang around! Cheers.

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.

Hey all,
Ben is the name. From Sydney Australia, age 31.
Been playing since I was 11, but took an 8 year break after moving from Newcastle to Sydney in 1999. Back with a vengeance and have added greatly to my collection over the last few years, listed below:

RGA121
RGT42FX
MTM1
MMM1
LTD SC607
TC420 customised
GR320
LTD V500
'Frankensteined' strat copy
Maton EM325C acoustic

HERE'S A WALLPAPER (below) I created with pics of them all (some are admittedly the manufacturer's studio shots as they were easier to cut out). You can also see them all on the Ibanez forums HERE.

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.

After hours of going through this site, reading whole posts and almost reaching physical climax at the guitar porn *ahem* ... i finally decided to register :-D
In case anyone wonders, i have been playing 12 years, completely self taught, and i currently have 2 bodies i have sanded down and plan to retore/customize. I have a Cruiser Strat (seriously need to upgrade pickups...) ..and recently acquired a very distressed JS1200...poor thing :-(
Will get pics up as soon as possible.
This site is awesome and a great repository of guitar knowledge and i look forward to adding my own input.

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.

Hi my name is Sreejith. I am from Singapore.

I currently own a Ibanez S520EX (Made in Korea) and Zoom GFX-5 pedal and a basic Vox amplifier.

I have been playing classical guitar all my life and am not really good at electric. I am trying to pick up rock guitar techniques and I hope to get valuable advices and suggestions from the gurus here
