Re: New members - introduce yourself here.

curtis here from southern Arkansas in the USA. i'm a newbie but am really lovin' my guitar(s). i currently own 3, a fender stratocaster, which was my first guitar, a Jasmine acoustic/electric that really sounds sweet unplugged, and my favorite (and by far the easiest for me to play) is my Ibanez S470. It's really light on my shoulder and has a super fast action. The fret is much thinner and easier to work than either of the other 2...

i'm about to upgrade (i think) the pickups in the S470 from the factory installed Axis humbuckers to Dimarzio/IBZ pickups.

Buckethead is my hero.....

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.

Hello everybody,
I´m Alessandro, 35, Italian, been playing since 8 months.
Actually I´m a singer but after I relocated to Austria and dismissed the band (OMG what have I done?), I decided to learn how to play an instrument.
I bought some wrong gears (some ok like my SZ320EX that I should have kept) before buying my RG 350 DX... I guess most of you will consider it a toy, but it sounds great!

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.

Hey,
My name is Bob and I enjoy messing around, rockin' on my guitars. By the time I had finished paying child support (13 years) all I had left were my two guitars and a small practice amp. A '78 Ovation Viper and a '85 Fender Strat w/Seymour Duncan Scorcher at the bridge and Seynour Duncan Hot Rails at the neck and Schaller tuning pegs. Now I also have an '04 Ibanez AX-220, '02 Ovation Celebrity CC01, '04 Ovation Celebrity Deluxe, '04 Martin DM Dreadnought and an '07 Fender Showmaster FMT HH. I have a BlueVooDoo 60 half-stack, Marshall AVT50 half stack w/ mods done and I have just aquired a Mesa-Boogie Lonestar Special 1x12 Combo. I am looking forward to learning and seeing what others like, don't like, etc.....later

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.

OK, here goes, I'm David, Lived in Columbus Ohio forever. I currently own a 1972 Tele/Strat hybrid ('72 Telecaster custom maple neck on a 1985 Stratocaster body) with full EMG's (the old S1's) Spertzel locking tuners stock floating tremolo, A Westone Trevor Rabin Signature Searies III with full EMG's (85/SA/SA) a Westone X275 Pantera with again full EMG's (85/SA/SA) and a Floyd Rose installed... and my newest addition an Ibanez RG4EX1 which is installed with..you guessed it...full EMG's (81/SA/85), gorgeous blue quilted body super low action. Finally a guitar neck I don't have to search forever to find to get that feel I want. My gear is a rare ART 80/80 with the built in Pearce amp, Lexicon Alex and ross 31 band equalizer and a couple great pedals I will never do without... a Fulltone Clyde Deluxe wah, an old early 70's Morley TEL-RAY Pro-Flanger and another Morley TEL-RAY Volume pedal. I've owned some killer guitars in my time...my first was a 61 Gibson Melody Maker given to me by a local musician who had a few national albums... Eric Moore of the GODZ (which got stolen 20 some odd years ago) 2nd guitar was a 60 Fender Telecaster, 3rd guitar was a 62 Gibson ES-330. That's where my Fender hybrid came in.
I am a member of www.homerecording.com Telecaster Appreciation group....but it has since gone downhill, I hope this place stays as it looks like allot of good info and pics.

Cool

A French lefty 'Jemmer'

Hi everybody.
So, the game is: add your own resume to these hundreds filling the previous pages here. OK, here I go.
I'm Philippe, a French guy currently living in Maryland (DC area). I'm a righty but I play lefty axes. I guess by the time I started (back in 1986... am I that old ?), I figured it was logical to put my 'skilled' hand on the neck, with my left hand dedicated to do the rythm...
I finally came very late to Ibanez, essentially because I had previous guitars I enjoyed, which were doing their job according to my needs. I played some metal, though, but only in my 30's and by the time, I had a French luthier special axe for the job and didn't yet feel the Ibanez call.
When I started searching, I couldn't find high end Ibanez in LH... Until this year, when I could buy a JEM 7vwhL with Ibanez Rules! Man, I didn't know how I missed that ! I'm all the more happy and proud that my baby is one of the rare lefty issued.
So, here's my lineup now (all lefty of course. I attached some pics) :

- Ibanez Jem7vwhL
- Fender MIA Strat sunburst - 50th Anniversary
- Line6 Variax 500
- Yamaha APX10RC electro acoustic cutaway guitar
- Warwick Thumb bolt-on 5 string bass, natural oil finish (a great thing)

I even bought an RG120 (righty) for my wife (and friends coming to jam)last Christmas. Entry level, but I must salute Ibanez for their finish, even for first price guitars.

Current gear :
- Line6 Vetta II Hd head amp + Line6 4X12 Slant cab (awesome with the jem) + FBV long board pedal controller
- Carvin QuadX preamp + FS77 pedal controller
- TC Electronic G-Major effects processor (great in loop with the Vetta)
- Alesis Midiverb IV
- Behringer Zenyx 1832 mixer with effects
- Boss BR1600 digital recorder (with GT6 effects in it)
- Boss DR880 drum box
- Alesis 100W power amp
- Mackie studio 120W amplified speakers
- Boss voice harmonizer (pedal)
- Shennheiser S840 mike
- Blue Baby bottle studio condenser mike
- Boss pedals
- Morley wah
- tons of cables, softs,
- PC and M-Audio Fast Track Ultra interface - Cubase, etc.

As everyone, I've resold lots of good things I used to have. My regrets go to those first :
- Seagull 12 string
- Ovation Celebrity
- Fender MIM Squier
- Steinberger 'stick' headless bass guitar
- Cort Artisan bass guitar (just resold for the Warwick to come)
- Michel Scamps custom made guitar (Jackson like, with Paf pro and Evolution, ebony fretboard, neck thru, floyd, etc)
- Marshall 80-80 Bichorus stereo Valvestate
- the series of Boss GT I've had : GT5, GT6, GT8 and GT10. Now my Vetta, my G-Major, Midiverb and all built-in effects I have in the mixer and the recorder are more than enough for my needs.

But I don't regret what I sold them for ! Now it takes more time, but I'm committed to acquire only good stuff. Next in line is a Taylor nylon string acoustic and a high end synthetizer.

Other than that, I play about almost every style, with preference for classic rock, prog rock, pop-folk, blues, melodic metal, and of course, some Satch and Steve kind of improvisation (at my level...)

Well, I've been long enough and you're all surely sleeping now ! So let's have this page go to the archives with all the others. If you need some feedback on my guitars and/or on lefty issues, just let me know.

Musically yours
Phil

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.

Hi! My name is Jorge and I'm from Puerto Rico. I'm a hobbyist/Intermadiate guitar player and I have been playing for around 10 years now. I've been member of 2 local P.R. bands and I have not been very active on playing since I joined the military 5 years ago. I'm trying to get back in shape to get creative and technically current again. I'm a fan of Progressive/Metal, 80's Rock/Hair/Metal, Guitar virtuoso, Flamenco, Jazz/Fusion and classical music. My biggest influences are Nuno Bettencourt, George Lynch, Joe Satriani, Tony Macalpine, Kiko Loureiro and Andi Timmons. I've been a member for some months but I didn't had time to post anything... I'm glad to join the jem site family. See you at the forums!
