I signed up to see if I can get any tech tips and tricks. I have been browsing around the site for about a year, and just decided to register.

Dude, that's not sad. You're still in high school. You're gonna go through more gear than you can imagine over the next 1/2 century.
Patience, grasshopper. (let's see how many people under the age of 30 understand that one LOL)

Hi
my name is Pedro and i'm from Brasília, Brazil. I started playing guitar like a year and a half year because i had to pay a debt. My current guitar is an Ibanez RG 370.I liked it and started playing for fun and 8 months ago i joined a band called Los cabritados (although Brasil does not speak spanish we selected this name) and We've got a vídeo on youtube of us playing on a small festival in Brasília. (Just search for Los Cabritados and you will find it)

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.

Hey.

Jason from up in the balmy Pacific Northwest, Washington the state.

Guitars: My collection is light for the time being. Got booked for one of those sweet divorce gigs recently. Chews through the old guitar stash pretty quick trying to eat. The old bullpen is the 1963 Gretsch corvette, 1990 Ibanez RG540PHHBK the unofficial Skolnick model, One of the last 2 Ibanez RGA121VLF models they made in 2008. Called the factory, guy the walked out there and said well I have two, I will send you one. Seemed fair, huh?

AMP: JSX head/slant cab

Effects: Chandler digital echo, TC G-Force, Korg DTR-2, Dunlop 535Q wah, Krank Dist.Maximus, Krank KrankShaft, Dimebag dist., DS-1, GE-7.

Later.

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.

Hi, my name is Rick and I'm from KY. I have been playing in bands for 25 yrs now, mainly playing Bass guitar. I love guitar though and I guess I am a tone fanatic. I have a 1990 Ibanez 777DY that plays and sounds incrediable that I might be interested in selling or trading on. I am new at this site so I may need some guidance in posting pics. I love the guitar so it would take something pretty special for me to let it go. Maybe a Les Paul Standard, etc. Let me know if interested. I look foward to being a memer here. This is a very cool site, Thanks Rick

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.

Hey everyone,

Great site and I'm a new Ibanez owner. Bought a JS1200 and it's an amazing guitar with some awesome tone variations, but I just can't get my setup just right.

Have to admit I've had a large learning curve since this is my first locking trem, but I'm learning. I did take it to a luthier and he adjusted a fret or two to even it out and did an entire setup, took out neck shim, balanced the tremolo to be parallel (looks like IbanezRules pics and feels right), setup intonation.

The thing is he got the trem angle right, but the neck and action just wasn't "right" for me. He had it way low so asked him to adjust it up a hair, then it was just a little too high. I couldn't keep going back to him to get that right "feel" so I may just have to take it back and pay him to work with it some more.

The thing is, I feel I really need to learn this stuff if I want to maintain and keep my guitar playing well. It makes such a huge difference when it's "right" on my playing.

I have tweaked it some here and there by adjusting truss rod and trem posts only, but just can't find the right balance with the feel of the string being slinky and easy to play while maintaining balance across strings. I'm focusing on making neck "straight" or just the slight bow or straightness for feel and trying to balance that with the height using posts. Just not getting it there guys...can anyone help with a way to measure some of this and the tools I need to figure this out. It seems like some of these slight adjustments make such a big difference in playability, so learning this would be so beneficial in my playing. Any measures, tools to measure, tips for how I know the balance of the posts (how do you measure this), or tips on how to measure the feel of it would be greatly appreciated.

MY last ditch effort is just to take it back to the luthier and tell him he had it close both times, but needs to be somewhere in between. It would be worth the $75-!00 or whatever, but want to learn this. Thanks.

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.

Hi, I'm Rhys.
I live outsie London in the UK. I've always liked Ibanez and am a big fan of the archetype shred users like Vai, Satch, Gilbert and Petrucci. I don't have an Ibanez guitar, but that's because they've never done a lefty that I've wanted ... until now. But, as it's taken them so long I'm kind of ambivalent to the idea of getting one, especially as I've had an excellent substitute in my Patrick Eggle Berlin Pro.

Anyway, I think this'll be a pretty cool place to hang and talk about music anyway.
