First of all that's not EVO - it's FLO. *Secondly, what's really cool is you can see the fret mods on FLO in this picture... interesting.

New tuners for Vai

hmm...I think Steve is the King of endorsements. *Have you ever noticed how much STUFF he plugs. *Not that he doesn't make use of it, or deserve-but it's just amazing to look at all the crap his name is on. *Steve Vai plays this guitar, amp, wah, volume, uses these tuners, this console, checks out this website. *What's next, a shoe deal? *I can just see it now,

Air Vai

or maybe that new TV from Sony is endorsed by him. *It's called VAI-O

New tuners for Vai

I can kind of understand why Vai would fit 40:1 locking tuners to his guitars. If I was his tech, and needed to keep that many guitars tuned and strung for his stage show, I'd want tuners that were as fast and solid as possible too.

Of course, once the nut is locked, it really doesn't matter what the strings are attached to - didn't Dimebag Darrell once knock the head off one of his guitars while playing, and the locking nut held? I remember hearing that somewhere.

I think those tuners look way to big and goofy. And 100 bucks?? For 100 bucks I should be able to program what pitch I want them to tune to and they do it themselves. (Ok maybe not 100, probably 500, but still 100 is a lot)

How do you tune those up anyway? They just look like thick poles. wheres the knobs you need to turn?

The knobs are on the back, kinda like banjo tuners, only simpler and they don't stick out the way banjo tuners do.

Vai is the only guy I know that can stand on the body of his guitar bend over and pull on the trem and throw it around and still make it sound some what musical.

Correct me if I'm wrong but that would be a slow pain in the ass to me.

16:1=16 full rotations of the tuners knob to rotate the string 360 degrees.
40:1=40 full rotations of the tuners to rotate the string 360 degrees.
16:1 is what gotoh uses, those are the tuners on Ibanez models.
