Hi guyz
I am a newbie in this page, I mean I have just registered here. This page is cool a lot specially 'cuz tons of people know a lot here about guitar setup and maintenance, and you can make your own lutherie in your home just thanks to the aid of people around here....
That's why I am here, I have a little (big) problem. I have a RG 470, with a Lo-Trs tremolo since just a year and my tremolo knives have lost its superficial hardener material. In other words, my tremolo goes out of tune after every touch on the tremolo bar.
I have some questions for you, I hope you can solve this problem, 'cuz I am trying sum solutions, but there are not very nice (for example, applying Teflon to the pivot studs, it slightly works but tone losing is still there, and the solution is cool just for a week....). I want to know if I can repair the knives, and how to do it. Is there some kinda paint or enamel to use on it? Or a temper on the base plate must be done?
Either having or not any solution, I have another question: if I ever want to change my tremolo for a Floyd Rose, I have been reading here in jemsite I can change Lo-Trs for an Original FR or into a
Floyd Rose Pro without making any changes. Is this information right? You know, I don't live in U.S.A. (I live in Spain), so the
Floyd Rose tremolo systems have kinda higher prices here, so I don't want to take a bad step. And I read here that Floyd Roses have a defect in their design, which makes knives to be crushed earlier than Ibanez Edge for example. Does it mean that Floyd Rose tremolos are not worthy? And what are the differences between an Original and the Pro Floyd Rose?? Which one is recommended to fit my Lo-Trs?
Please, answer me here or to
