Has anyone tried elixir strings? Are they worth their $14 price tag?
Here they cost $25 and IMO worth every cent. *They last forever lol... and they sound great too

I use 10's because 9's feel too sloppy and thin. *Am I the only one not using 9's? *They really don't hurt once your used to them... really lol ;-)

I use Dean Markley Custom Light 9-46; for me they seem to get the job done in terms of life and tone, and have not ever once gotten cruddy on me. While on vacation for two weeks I left both my guitars on the stands (with AC on of course), and upon coming back the strings were almost as slippery as new.

I hate Ernie Ball strings - the slinky-osity is too much for me. It's hard for me to get a good vibrato because the low E string goes all the way on the other side of the fretboard! :sarcasm:

I haven't tried many others, except D'Addario, which don't last quite as long for me, but I am very happy with the Steels.

P.S. - A tip for those using Steels: I don't know why this occurs, (maybe it's because they're cryogenically prepared) but when the air temperature in my house is kinda cool (60-65°F) for a little while the strings sound nearly like new again. It's great!

I just put on a set of Elixer 9s that I got from Boston. So far I'm REALLY liking them, but I wish they had that poly crap on the non-wound strings too (if that's possible).

Mostly Ernie ball's (pink packet, the 9's) for E-tuned 6 + universe (with a .52 for the B) and power slinky's (purple .11 pack) with the .11 replaced with .12 for C-tuned 6 strings. I also use dean amrkley every so often, and have got a set of d'addario's onanother guitar, but mostly ernie balls...

Do any of you mix strings for your 7-string??? I like the DR - strings but i want a 54 gauge seventh string...So I'm thinking about buying six string DR-strings and just add a Ernie Ball custom 54 gauge...What do you all think????

9 guages feel too wussy for me... i gotta have at least 10s or they will break too often (and the 10s sound a little ballsier). *
ANOVA- for my 7's i use D'Addario XLL110-7's *theyre .010 - .056. *my guitar teacher uses 11 guage with a 60 for the low b.... and he's an incredible player.

$.02

D'addario 9-42 and a 54 for the B-string of my UV

collect the packets, send them back and they give lots of free stuff!

11s if I tune the guitar (a charvel in this case) down a whole step then you get a huge tone.
