You'll probably get as many diferent replies as there will be posters on this thread. I prefer DiAddario 09's, Kev prefers DR strings, some prefer Blue Steel, some go with even more 'boutique' selections. Basically, TRY THEM ALL! Everytime you change strings throw on a different brand, you'll quickly learn/remember what you did and did not like about each. Just because *I* like something doesn't mean you will, and vice versa. If you are having a fast string corrosion problem as many in the southern states do, there will be other recomendations for those (I believe in the old forum FAQ archive).

One thing I recommend is once you finalize your string selection, to STAY with the same ones. It makes steup alot easier. Change them often too. Good luck... glen

D'darrio XL's .009 to .042 with a .054 for a low B on my 7's. *I find the D'darrio's tend to be a little easier to break but they are the cleanest feeling strings and the brightest sounding one's I have found. *Of course your amp setup and playing style will affect how the strings sound and perform too. *As was already said, try 'em all. *Once you find your favorite ones, stick with 'em.
Oh yeah, I change my strings about once every 2 weeks. *Unfortunately it's on about 4 different guitars every 2 weeks. *But D'darrio gives you players points for cool stuff too. *If they still offered the Zion guitar I'd probably have enough points for it now!!!

Usually DR tite-fit 9-46's, but I'm trying out some GHS B52s (9-46, made the set up myself) right now..

Dean Markley .009-.042 for me. I used to love GHS Boomers but the quality seemed to go way downhill as of late.

I have now Dean Markleys Blue Steel Strings (9-42) and they actually last longer and have a nice bright tone. They cost quite much but i think they are worth that.

You could try different string cauges too.:lame:
I usually use 9-42, but now I'm having DR 8-38, and
their really great, donīt stay in tune so easily, but I can live with that. They donīt have so much sustain when bending, but nothing major. I also like the thin "yngwie" sound Iīm getting from them. The strings donīt seem to break so easily, but I have to change them a lot sooner.
Recently I had EB 10-46īs, that stayed in tune pretty well, lasted quite long, and had a good sound, but they really cut of the skin on my fingers, and I couldnīt play more than a couple of hours, coz every bend started to hurt like H*ll.Had a great sustain though!
Iīm always changing brand, but I used a few times DM Blue Steelīs, IMHO they were OK, but nothing special.
But I wouldnīt advice to use 8-38īs with a Floyd...

Just my 0.02$:cheesy:
- Jussi

BTW - Yes, I have fragile fingers !

D'Addario EXL120+, 0.0095-0.044 I believe, since I don't keep the packets and haven't got any to hand. For some reason, the idea of being halfway between 9s and 10s appealed to me at one point. Now I just use them because they last pretty good, and I can't really face re-intonating all of my guitars if I went back to 10s.
