At least, Flashman was.
George MacDonald Fraser, author of the Flashman and MacAuslan stories, died at 82. .....sniffle.....
I love Flashman, he's sexist, racist, bigoted, immoral, a drunkard and a coward, and probably the best lecturer on military actions from the Indian Mutiny to the Great War.
Fraser seems to have been quite the opposite, except for the encyclopaedic knowledge of matters military and social during the Victorian era.
I'm sure he had his fans here as well.
