Any Hayabusa owners?
I'm thinking of ditching the big Beemer and getting a Hayabusa. I want a motorcycle again; the whole recliner with wheels isn't terribly fun anymore. I had a few big liter sport bikes before the Beemer, so I'm pretty sure I'm going back.
I'm looking at some leftover '07 Hayabusas now, which are a lot cheaper than the new updated '08's. If anyone could give me some actual experience insight into how the 'Busa rides for long distances (200+ miles a day) I'd really appreciate it. I'm thinking of getting one as soon as this week.
Thanks!
jim

Re: Any Hayabusa owners?
I've never riden a busa but there are reviews on
www.motorcyclenews.com
if you want to check that out. It's a highly respected British publication so should be quite reliable.
I think you're making a good choice

Hey Jim
I quite fancy one too........ got a Blade at the mo!
This months issue of Performance bikes (UK Mag) has a speed test of the 07 model........
My mate has had an earlier 98? model and he's loaded, and could afford anything, and he's kept the Busa........... says very comfy for long distance with a pillion...........

Re: Any Hayabusa owners?
I traded a Fireblade 900 for the Beemer, and I should have just kept the damn thing. If I still had that I'd be set!
Thanks guys

Re: Any Hayabusa owners?
(The name as you may have not heard comes from the Japanese Peregrine falcon. It is one of the few animals which can travel at about 300km per hour (in a dive). The designer apparently came up with the name whilst walking along the beach and seeing this bird. The colour scheme of gold/bronze and silver are similar to those of the falcon its self. Believe of not - it is said that this falcon often hunts actual Blackbirds )
Um....like Jim....like dude.......like.....maybe you better just get...like a Goldwing ur whatever
Oops....wrong thread for the "likes"
Why do you want a bike like this, Jim?? They are pretty rough on the fanny
Thumbs up for Suzuki!! I raced motocross for years and the RM's were a notch up on the KX/YZ/CR! (at least at the time)
Hmmm......from rotary beemer to Hayabusa!!??
Whats with the resurgence of the speed kick?? Trying to relive your youth??
You got some "splainin" to do Jim

The thing here is, that when the Hayabusa came out the king of the big bikes was the Honda CBR1100XX Super Blackbird. That's why they put in the "hunts actual Blackbirds" bit.

The K1200LT-C IS a GoldWing or whatever, and I've grown a bit tired of it after 3 years of being off big super bikes. The Hayabusa is supposed to have a great seat, and has a more upright seating position that a standard supersport, like a GSX-R or Ninja. That, and you can get a new Gel seat for about $140. That's why I'm looking at a Hayabusa instead of something smaller and lighter, or even faster like the Ninja ZX-1400.

It's not a rotary engine, it's a shaft drive. Lower maintenance than chain but the same type of engine. I like big bikes, I've had 600+ CC bikes going back to '89 after 10 years of 600-750 bikes. While the Hayabusa has a big engine and goes really fast and all, it's also considerably smaller than the BMW. That allows you to do certain things that you simply can't on a bike as big as a car, like not get stuck in standstill traffic for 2 hours
It's the size of the Beemer I've gotten tired of, not the performance. Plus, a bigger engine will handle more miles than a smaller engine. If you want to get 100K miles out of the bike you can't consider a 600.

My Aria helmet is the most expensive piece of gear I own, because it needs to be; it protects my head. Roethlisberger wasn't wearing a helmet at all. Guess we know what value he puts on his head!

Re: Any Hayabusa owners?
Oh just admit you like the rush of the powerband
Either that or you're living your second childhood
Good for you!
But as I mentioned in the email to you (if you'd read it, lol)
For me, the need for speed ended up = need for a chiropractor (and I'm lucky my head it still attached
)
