Thank you for your co-operation.
Guns really have nothing to do with politics. It's clearly a sensative issue, but there is nothing illegal about having a gun with the proper permits when required. I understand people dont like them but the issue should be non existant. Cars kill more people than guns but no one gets worked up about car threads. I'm not a hunter, nor do I own a gun but it's wrong to judge a person who isnt doing anything illegal just because you dont agree with it. I believe in the old better to have one and not need it than need it and not have it theory. Also, every thread about guns always turns into a "You guys across the pond" thing.

Re: Any other avid shooters here?

Thats kinda neat - I had no idea there was such a thing as a permit to legally carry a concealed firearm. My perspective on this whole debate is that there is no problem with gun owners that follow the proper protocols when purchasing a firearm. I'm just happy I don't have to worry about gun-wielding thugs where I live, 'cause I'd hate to have to carry my own gun.

Re: Any other avid shooters here?

IDPA is great fun, as is IPSC. I much prefer the "practical" shooting over bullseye matches like PPC. I never got into the racegun stuff, but both IPSC and IDPA have production classes you can shoot with something like a stock Glock. A bunch of guys from my work used to shoot both IPSC and IDPA matches each month, and it was fun for shooting and as a social event. We met a lot of really decent people at the matches.

Re: Any other avid shooters here?

I love to shoot all sorts of guns. I don't currently own any, but there are a lot in my family that my grandpa gave to my dad, and hopefully I will end up with a few. I cant wait to get my hands on my dads AK-47!

I love to shoot clay pidgens with our 12 gauge, shoot targets with our 270, and even coke cans with a bb gun. I guess you either like it or you dont, but I always enjoy just shooting for fun.

Re: Any other avid shooters here?

Well, I'll jump in. This isn't a brag, or a gloat, it's just a fact of mine. I own several. I don't get to shoot as often as I like (at the shooting range), but I try to do it every so often.

I also have a concealed weapons permit in which I typically carry my .45 Glock. It stays in my truck while I'm out and I carry it in at night. I also have a .50 Desert Eagle. I really want to get another one of those. They're just....AWESOME. There's a Mossberg 20 gauge in the closet and a few other rifles handed down to me.

Here's a funny story about the whoe gun thing though, and I'm sure everyone will get a kick out of it.

Almost 2 years ago I moved into the house I'm in now. Brand new house, just bought it. I'm here for a couple of months with an advert on roommates.com looking for a roommate. Finally I get someone to move in.

Still in the process of unpacking boxes and stuff I was moving things here and there until their proper place was found. Well, during all that, the day before my new roomy is to move in, I put all my gun stuff on the kitchen table to get it out of the way. I was going to put it all up in "the right spot" after I did some things in my room. Well, I've got close to 30 clips for the Glock and they were all loaded with regular lead rounds. They're cheap and that's what I use at the shooting range. I've got them all lined up and sitting upright on the table.

I go to work the next day and completely forgot to put all the gun stuff up before I left. My new roomy begins moving in and the friend that's helping him sees all of this stuff on the table. He and my new roomy starts panicing, wondering if he should really move in or just high-tail it out of there....am I some kinda of murdering nutjob, etc. So all this is going thru his head. His friend starts making fun of the situation and gives me the nickname Annie Oakley. Side note - the people that he was working with at that time, to this day, know me as Annie Oakley. My roomy tells him to, "shut up. I don't know if she's got cameras up and we're being recorded, microphones....just shut up!"

He tells me all of this when I get home. I calmed him down and appologized for all of that. We turned out becoming very good friends. He's since moved out for another job in another city, but we still talk. He's come back to visit. I'll go out and visit him.

Anyways, funny story.

I don't like debating but. But 85% or so of all world wide gun crime is commited with stolen guns.

Why do people get shot in Japan where guns are illeagal, and in Britain? Obviously there has to be more to the solution than just banning guns.

30 clips?!? Who were you expecting? zie Germans?
(That's from "Snatch". Please don't take offense, my German friends! )

There's nothing wrong with guns. It's humans that are dangerous.

Re: Any other avid shooters here?

I have been shooting since I was 5 (31 years) and I do enjoy collecting & shooting firearms. There is nothing "nutty" about it. There are many hobbies out there that may be strange to me, but to that person it is a passion of theirs. America does have the largest "gun culture" in the world and to us (Americans) it really isn't a big deal. I lived in Europe for 7 years & Japan for 4 years and I have seen it from "outside" eyes if you will. Unless you grew up around guns it's very hard to understand. A guns only purpose isn't to kill. If it was, shooting wouldn't be an olympic sport. Hell, the Euros are among the best shooters in the world! Just because a person has a gun doesn't make them an automatic criminal or instantly put evil thoughts in their heads. I legally own a suppressor and a short barrel rifle and believe it or not, I am not a professional asassin or ninja. Hollywood is very innacurate on how quiet a suppressor is and most people own them to help protect their hearing. In England & Finland suppressors are very common. I also legally carry a handgun concealed (H&K P7). I'm not paranoid, just prepared. The last thing that I ever want to do is take someone's life, but if they already made the decision to take mine then I refuse to be a victim. Many people have fire extinguishers & smoke detectors for just in case.

Not the best idea to leave a firearm in a vehicle as that is how the majority of them get stolen. Good gun choice though!

I built an AR15 carbine in .50AE and harvested 3 deer with it with my own reloaded ammo. Devistating, or to be "PC", extremely humane results.

I don't use firearms, I use my hand to hand combat and my trusty chuck norris in a jar and my chuck norris action jeans so i dont rip the crotch when i kick you in the face lol, which sadly since I have taken martial arts I have sorta wanted jeans like that but not the southern style like he likes them lol
