Re: Any other avid shooters here?

I was somewhat anti-gun until I moved to Montana and you really start to realize how much it comes down soley to the person using it. I never knew the statistics until just now when I looked it up, but the percentage of people in MT that own guns is 57.7% while the number of murders (total #, not just the gun related ones) is an annual 3.2 for every 100,000 people. An idiot with an intent to kill will do so with or without a gun. It wouldn't be that hard to kill someone with a plastic fork.

The average citizen is vulnerable to criminals that carry guns and knives illegally.

why brag about going no-where unarmed ?
Because when you can protect yourself you don't have to rely on the government to do it for you. That's the beauty of being a citizen and not a subject.

please dont take this the wrong way but for your cousins "across the pond" you sound like a nutcase !
I never ceases to amaze how the moment someone displays their interest in firearms and the desire to protect themselves they're labeled a nutcase.

I really dont want to have anything to do with guns, I appreciate the mechanical beauty of them but the end use..... is to make holes in human beings...
A firearm is a tool designed to do a job and that job is to propel a lead mass at a high velocity. End of story. A firearm doesn't not discharge on its own. A human being has to make a conscious decision to put their finger on the trigger before a firearm will discharge.

I find guns disgusting and I sincerly wish that unless you needed them to find food or some other good use
Would it be correct to say then that you do not consider self defense a "good use" of a firearm?

then they dont have a place in my world or (I believe) our society.
Gee, I think I remember why my ancestors left England in the first place.

gun crime is becoming rife in England and KIDS are being shot...
please piss off to a gun forum - this is JEMSITE
So civilian firearm ownership is, for all intents and purposes, banned in the UK yet violent crime is rampant. Another stunning example of gun control having absolutely no affect on violent crime. It's actually quite simple - criminals by definition do not obey laws, including firearms laws.

Listen, if you don't like firearms that's fine but it's illogical to blame them for all of society's problems. When the disenfranchised feel they have nothing to lose, human life has no value and they will do whatever they have to to get what they want. Firearm related crimes are a symptom of a larger problem but they are not the problem themselves. Until everyone realizes that, we as a society will never get past the knee jerk emotional responses (Ewww! I hate guns because they kill people!) we will never be able to all work together to create a society in which our fellow man does not feel the need to use violence to get what they want.

Still, you don't usually have innocent bystanders being killed with knives . . . it's just so damn easy to kill people with guns . . . I mean we all have lapses in self-control, but would you want someone to end up dead because of it?

Re: Any other avid shooters here?

I've been an avid shooter as you call it since I was just a little guy My Grandad taught me (god bless him)

However, I've never killed an animal, or used a gun for violence! I shoot for competition!

Triggy-boy.......your paranoia is going to get the best of you

Unless the job calls for it (police officer, bounty hunter, etc) there is no reason to always pack!

"Paranoia WILL destroy ya"

I'm going to close this thread NOW out of respect for the families and my friends that have no choice but to deal with the COWARDLY happenings earlier today!

My heart is with them all!!!

*PEACE LOVE AND GOOD HAPPINESS STUFF*
