I owned a gun before I owned a guitar...and unlike a guitar, I go no where un armed.

Anyone else shoot... if so, what's your gig... mine's IDPA (international defensive pistol asscociation) and GSSF (Glock sponsored match)

How is it that you're allowed to carry around a gun. Or is it on the DL?

It is called a concealed carry permit.... hundreds of thousands of Americans have them... and if the rest understood how vulnerable the average person is, more would choose to get one.

And no I would never advocate or recommend to illegally carry a firearm... thats the difference between responsible gunowners and criminals.

I really dont want to have anything to do with guns, I appreciate the mechanical beauty of them but the end use..... is to make holes in human beings...

I find guns disgusting and I sincerly wish that unless you needed them to find food or some other good use then they dont have a place in my world or (I believe) our society.

Well yes this is jemsite, In the OFF TOPIC SECTION... if disgussion of 2 girls in one cup is allowed on this forum than LEGAL AND RESPONSIBLE firearms ownership is aswell... If my thread is so offensive, I'm sure the mods will lock it and suspend me. Owning firearms is not a crime here, nor is it a disgusting act.

Next... if you read my post I stated NOT TO CARRY OR USE A FIREARM ILLEGALLY. Gun crimes are rampant in the UK because criminals KNOW that their victims will be unarmed.

Last, Please forgive me if I came off to you like a "nutcase", but you come off to me as someone who is hopelessly lost in a world where only guns are bad and there are no bad people.

I've actually been considering learning to shoot recently.

While I've never actually touched a gun before, I am very aware of just how vulnerable you average person (i.e. me) is. My lady and I are considering buying a house, and I'm finding the idea of having some defensive options for said home pretty appealing.

Can you suggest any references to learn more about it?

The arguement already started. Im suprised people's panties dont get all bunched up when someone mentions Guns N Roses. If you dont shoot or arent interested in guns leave the guys thread alone. He legally owns and carries a gun, if you dont like it tough sht, skip the thread and read the next one.

Here's how the rest of the thread will go
Guy 1: I like guns
Guy 2: Guns are bad
Guy 1: Guns can be used for defense
Guy 2: If no one had guns no one would need them
Guy 1: I legally carry a gun and see no problem with legal and responsible ownership

This is a very real possibility. Personally I'd lock the thread right now and get back to talking guitars, "guns" is a subject far too close to politics in my book. But seeing as my book is far stricter than most folks here I'll let the converation continue for now.
