Any tips for dealing with tendonitis?

This is really getting me down. I have had tendonitis for a few weeks and the pain is crazy. Do you guys have any ways in which you deal with it?

Re: Any tips for dealing with tendonitis?

Hi Dee,
I found that I hve tendonitis in both of my arms but before I knew that I had literally crushed my right arm in an accident at work...one thing that I was told over and over in therapy was to stretch the tendons of that arm by placing the affected palm and forearm flat and facing down on a table (or flat surface) and slowly bring my arm off of the table, leaving the palm flat on the table to the point where my fingers are at a right angle to the forearm and hold it there a few seconds until there is little pain as you increase the time held there.

The other thing you should do is lay off of that arm/hand and let the pain subside Then after a day or two of no pain, follow the above slowly and cautiously add the stretches.

I found I had tendonitis in both arms after I had disassembled/maintained some machines at work...after about a week, it went away and I resumed the stretches. I was fine since...have you had a Dr. check the extent of it ?

No playing guitar for at least a few weeks. I know it's tough, I've been there.

I've got carpel tunnel syndrome in my right wrist and both arms stuffed (tenosenovitus). I've been dealing with it for almost 4 years now.

If you want some advice, support, and exercises to help just pm me and I'll see how I can help you out.

Re: Any tips for dealing with tendonitis?

Thanks for the replies. Sorry to hear about your problems, but I'm happy I'm not alone on this.

Freedom777: I saw the doctor a few days ago and he gave me some tablets to kill the pain (Naproxen). We are not sure of the extent of it yet, I have to go back and be examined again soon. Everyday stuff hurts my forearm; typing, using a mouse, pretty much anything. For the first week there was intense pain in my right shoulder too, but I am happy to say that the pain seems to be under control now and appears to be subsiding. It's all in the right forearm, elbow area and hand at the moment. I will take your advice on those stretches. Thank you.

Phantom: Appreciate the help. I can't imagine having to deal with this for 4 years! That's awful. I might just hit you up for some advice soon. Thanks bro.
