Anybody do Facebook?

Thread title says it all.

My brother got me into it, and it's pretty cool. I'm just wondering if anyone else here has a Facebook profile.

Re: Anybody do Facebook?

I do but I don't really like it. I'm kinda tired of being contacted by people I had nothing to do with in high school etc, or people from a music forum I used to visit (I stopped posting there for a REASON!).

I prefer Twitter. I like to use that as a way of promoting my blog and interacting with my readers. At first when I looked at Twitter I thought "Pfft, that's just Facebook status updates, what's the point?" but now that i've used it for a little while I love it to bits.

I use facebook but I feel like Petie. So many people I barely knew want to be friends with me and they never even say anything to me at all. No comments or messages whatsoever, and if you don't accept their friend request they get upset and start drama over it. All the while, the whole time the truth is forgotten, "I met you once, and you know a guy I was friends with 10 years ago, it's not enough to call us FRIENDS."

But I get to keep in contact with my family and friends back home with it just a bit so I stay on it.

Yeah that's why I don't use Facebook.

I don't like people contacting me that I haven't talk to in 13 years and they would maybe say hi to me on the street, it's just silly

Just a quick ressurection...

For those who use Facebook, use the search window to search for "Jemsite", and it appears someone has made a Facebook group for us!

Re: Anybody do Facebook?

I have a facebook profile, but I don't particularly subscribe to the "status update" culture, and tend to keep it friends I ACTUALLY know only. Twitter is a good promotional platform, and straight to the point, but for all it's flaws, I still prefer the myspace thing, especially music wise.

Re: Anybody do Facebook?

I am not as addicted as a lot of people, but I check it about daily or every few days. I comment to other people and it's actually a good tool to keep in touch with people that you might not normally have a convenient way to normally. I am on there with the same name I use here, if anyone cares.

I can say the same. If I were back in California, I'd be hanging out with my friends too.

Re: Anybody do Facebook?

i just started up myself & i'm using FB to help organize a college reunion... like jay (who i see there) said it's a great way to stay in contact with friends or family scattered around the country (or globe). quick & easy from any PC or your phone... what i really like is it's not just one big advertisment to PROMOTE ME (ie. "myspace"). yes that has it's place i just have no time or interest in that. judging by the popularity of FB for all ages i'd say they nailed it... glen

Re: Anybody do Facebook?

I've just gotten into it lately and have made contact with so many more people than on myspace (which I primarily use for my band). I like that it's not over run by kids trying to act older than they really are and spam (our computer seems to be messed up every time my teenage stepsons spend a bunch of time on myspace)

Re: Anybody do Facebook?

I'm on there. I got to see what all my old friends wound up doing. People from where I used to work. People I went to school with. It's more normal than myspace.
