best bands that most people aint heard of?

hi everyone i thought it would be a good idea to post good bands to check out. also add a bit about what they sound like, or who. heres a couple from me to get the ball roalling. also, just cause they may be big where you live, in other country, backwards one like here where pop crap rules, we might not have heard of em. go nuts!

SUBMERSED = new metal, heavy but melodic.
DUST FOR LIFE = think alice in chains but a bit heavier, real good track was degrees of black, there are others cant remember titles off top of my head let me check in the mirror.
WITHOUT WARNING album three= dream theater but not as heavy but great tracks, great playing and awsome grooves.

HAGO alan brum, its okay really..................

OCEANSIZE

Manchester band,
Heavy progressive rock with lots of very pretty moments - lots of 'big' atmospheric sounds
Lots of dodgy time signatures, long songs and impressive arrangements using three guitars at once, usually with lots of effects going on too.
Good vocals, very few screaming parts - these are usually just backing vocals anyway.

Well worth a try.

Colosseum

I'm not sure if these are a well known band or not, everyone round here that I ask have never heard of them so I guess that qualifies them, I'm not really sure on what genre they would fall under either, im guessing jazz/rock, really not sure on this one though.

Quid Pro Quo

Brett Garsed and T.J. Helmerick, imo the best guitar duo ever.

Re: best bands that most people aint heard of?

These range from barely heard of to semi-popular but not popular enough...

Planet X, Trix, OTV, Tetsuo Sakurai, Garsed & Helmerich, Shawn Lane, Allan Holdsworth (hard to believe so many people haven't heard of him), Devil's Slingshot (Donati, Sheehan, MacAlpine), Joel Hoekstra, Guthrie Govan... I could go on for hours.

I listen to these bands / artists and wonder why more people are not listening. It's absurd. Every single person / band above has ridiculous talent, but most people want to focus on and buy complete garbage.

Re: best bands that most people aint heard of?

Holdsworth was actually quite popular during the 70's and 80's, but never as highly acclaimed as he should have been. Shawn Lane also doesn't get the respect he deserves. I heard a conversation about 2 or three years ago before I had seen Vai live, and one of the guys said that he didn't like tony MacAlpine because he played Carvins and not BC Rich. That was the only mention of him that I had heard in my living, amazing musician too.
