Calling computer people

I'm taking part in the bbc climate change experiment here. This experiment runs a model on you're computer and should take a few months to complete. My CPU is running flat out and much warmer than usual obviously. I'm wondering if this can damage it in any way or shorten the life expectancy etc?

Cheers

Al

Re: Calling computer people

Well, if you have a look at your task manager (Ctrl-Alt-del) you will probably notice (click performance tab) that your CPU usage will be around 100% since itīs constantly working on your climate predictions.
Usually under Windows, surfing the net or doing word processing or whatever, you wonīt even see 30% usage, with the CPU idling around most of the time. So it is normal that you see temperatures rising.

42°C is perfectly normal for a 3500+, though. No need to worry!

Cheers,
Carsten
