Can anyone translate some Russian for me?
My mom took art lessons from a famous painter, Serghi Bongarte, if that's spelled right. Anyway, she has some original charcoals he gave her, and on the back of one is something written in Russian, looks like cursive. She has never been able to translate it so I told her I'd try to get it done. If you can help and are willing, contact me and I'll send you a picture of it or whatever we need to do to get it to you (short of sending the art!) Thanks in advance, and help would be great!

Re: Can anyone translate some Russian for me?
Thanks, Cid, but it's in script - I don't even think I can read it, so I don't know what to type! Here it is, bad pic (sorry):

Re: Can anyone translate some Russian for me?
Can you please post a pic in focus, I couldn't tell you what that was even if it was in english.
I studied Russian for 11 years (many many years ago) and might be able to decipher it if the pic is in focus.
microdmitri who comes by the forum every so often also reads Russian.

Re: Can anyone translate some Russian for me?
Thanks, Dex. None of the photos are very clear, this one may be the best:
I'll see if I can't come up with some better pics. May be a while, they're in another town. Thanks, everyone, for looking and trying anyway.
Here are other blurry, frustrating pics:

Sorry buddy but that's too blurry for me.
Maybe someone who's first language is Russian will be able to pick up what's written.

Re: Can anyone translate some Russian for me?
Thats a Russian script "g" for "god" or "goda" which in Russion means "year".
It's customary to write g. after the year, e.g. 2007g and the scripted "g" in Russian is like the top right letter here.
It's to do with the way years are though of, like if you want to say you were born in 1971 you literally say "I was born in the 1971st year" so you always put "g." after any year.
Anyway, this is way too blurry to make out even for me and I can read this and get 99% of it no problem.

Re: Can anyone translate some Russian for me?
Thanks, Dex, that helps. I'll send her a copy, she can convert to print, then we can "git 'er done."

See if your camera has a "little flower" button on the back or something, which generally gioves you good focus on cluse ups. It might be something like a flower/mountain meaning close and 10+ meters. Any camnera should be better focis than those shots.

Re: Can anyone translate some Russian for me?
It's getting back up to Jackson, TN from the Memphis area that's the challenge right now. I can set up a tripod and get a better still shot, but gotta get up there to do it whilst juggling kids doctors appts, work, school, etc.
I REALLY appreciate everyone's help, and I will try to post better pics in the next week or two. Meanwhile, I mailed her a copy of the script Russian with instructions to translate to "print" Russian.
