Re: Cats Are Weird

I love how they will be quietly lying in the sun napping then suddenly get up and run crazily around the house. It's like they just woke up and realized that they were supposed to be in the other room. hehehe

These are my two cats, which i took with me from Norway on my holidays two years ago.

That's the little Norwegian wood cat with his toy.

As if by a miracle he has the same hobby like me.

Re: Cats Are Weird

I had a Russian Blue, he had the best temperment, except for when he was on the make, lookin' for honey-babies. He was fixed and he still chased the ladies.
I guess I would too He sired a couple litters that we later found out about.
But, one time he was outside (we didn't let him out, he'd escape) and I tried to corral him in, and he gave a couple swats at me more or less letting me know, F-off, I'm hunting punani, effer.

Aside from that, he was more like a dog, he'd come when called, he jump into your arms, or from the floor, in one leap, he'd jump to the top of a 7 foot door, and promptly take a nap on the door edge. We also had a cabinet that was about 8 feet high, he'd jump from the floor up to the top and crash up there as well. What was funnier was when he didn't quite make it and he'd flail his legs all the way back down, looking VERY uncool... He'd land and walk off like it never happened. He ruled.

Miss ya buddy.

You guys have some pretty weird animals too, it sounds like. My cat couldn't grow whiskers on one side of his face for the longest time, either.

Nice pics, Merkert.

Re: Cats Are Weird

When we moved in to our new house recently our cat (appropriately named Phantom) disappeared a few times. Normally he is a vocal little fella always talking, but these few times he just shut up and kept himself in hiding. We'd search for a couple of hours, worry that he got outside. Start scouring the street asking people if they had seen a big fat furry black cat, no one had.

The first time he got in to our walk-in wardrobe, climbed up the shelves and got in to some dark coloured clothes and just kept his eyes closed, until we finally checked there for the 5th time and he didn't close them in time.

The second time we had a blind guy installing our new blinds. He disappeared and for two hours we couldn't find him. Thought that he might have escaped while the blind guy was bringing stuff inside. Just as my wife was combing the streets again and I was about to call the RSPCA he walked past me and just looked at me with a smug look! We had no idea where he hid.

The third time we finally found where he was. We noticed him running under one of our single-seater lounge chairs (we checked under these repeatedly every time he disappeared). It's on wheels so I moved it quickly to get him out. He can sometimes crab walk under them so for a short time will stay hidden under it, but I rolled it across the room so he had no chance of staying under, but he never appeared. So then I turned the chair on it's side and he suddenly popped out of the lining! He had cut a hole in the lining and was sitting in the chair like it was a hammock! I looked at the other single seat chair and he had started on it too.

He tried hiding there again later that day but we were on to him so I got him out again and he hasn't hidden there since.

So yeah my cat loves to play hide and seek!

Wow, how did he manage that? Sonar? *bad joke ends here*

I have 2 cats and one spends all his time eating everying and the other refuses to eat anything she hasn't caught herself (leaving it's remains on the carpet, obviously).

The big cat does try and get into everything but he's so damned fat that he can't fit into most things. Last time we had to take him to the vets we had to buy a dog basket for him to fit in :S

I do love cats though. Very interesting critters.

My cat prefers to sprawl out in my open guitar cases, but if one of those is unavailable she'll make due layin on the top of whatever amp happens to have extremely loud screaches emanating from it.

That was terrible! I didn't notice that as I was writing it, and that's the sort of thing I always pick up!
