Cell-phones

I'm probably the only person in the world right now that doesn't own a cell-phone. Unfortunately, it's getting to the point where I need to get one. I think what's kept me from having one for so long is the fact that I'm afraid of having bills that cost more than $50 a month. Is there any particular plans that cost less than others? Is prepaid cheaper even if you get messages/texts almost everyday?

An expensive society, we live in.

Re: Cell-phones

you have to do some comparison, see what's available in your area.
Every carrier has some kind of promo going on, you jst have to go in, tell 'em that max you can spend (make sure they know you mean TOTAL bill price, not $49.99 then you get nailed with the charges and fees and it's $75.00.
They are all good at downplaying the extra fees and taxes that are tacked on.

Okay, that's what I thought. Is prepaid cheaper still than a traditional plan though?

Re: Cell-phones

I think prepaid is the cheapest way to go if you are not going to use the phone much. If you use the phone regularly then a monthly plan is probably the best. I have a monthly plan at $20.00 plus the regular BS fees and it works for me.

Re: Cell-phones

if you have a family member (who trusts you) you can be added as an additional phone to their plan at a very inexpensive cost with in-network benefits. around here monthly service starts at around $40 + tax/fees so prepaid is alot cheaper if you don't talk alot... glen

Re: Cell-phones

Our family dropped our landline, and we are all just using cellphones now as both our mobile and home phones. We've been doing this for a few years now with great success and big savings (not to mention no telemarketers).
