I guess that's a pretty good reason why animals eat us when given the chance, no?

Let's be honest though, the only reason we don't is because we find the thought unpleasant, but in honesty, protein is protein. There are plenty of recorded acts of people eating people as a survival method and they were fine. (physically anyway) Not that I want to, but it wouldn't hurt a thing except maybe your mind.

Why can't you care about people AND animals?

The fact is that people do torture these animals to make them do tricks, to entertain people. It is wrong. If you can't watch a video like the one posted above and feel something for the animals being mistreated then you need to wonder what is wrong with you.

+1, yeah, cruelty to animals is just plain wrong. Even worse when it is simply for entertainment, but wrong regardless of the reason why. I think everyone can agree with that.

Exactly, I saw part 2 of that video and the elephant was being a total jerk, he stole an old ladies purse, punched a midget and stole a fat kids ice cream. He also threw rocks at Nickleback, and said Green Day sucks.

It is impossible for any animal to be evil. It does what it feels necassary to survive.

elcid, do you not care for these animals? Like Rotti said, Why can't you care about people AND animals? That was a real funny comment though

You are the first person to call me a hippy, BTW

It's not that I don't care about animals, I've always had pets and have taken very good care of them. The thing that always gets me is people tend to worry more about an animal then the general populations well being. I didn;t see any threads started about trying to feed starving people in some third world country anywhere, but I did see one abou hi jacking an elephant trailer, and as I mentioned before I care a million times more about people than animals any day of the week. My friends 6 year old son was diagnosed with lukemia a few years back, and there's people out there that don't want tests done on mice to save a kid. That is the aboslute stupidest thing I have ever heard.

Also, I like calling people with any concerns "hippie", don't take it personal, I'm sure you bathe and have a job.

As long as its cooked properly...

Be careful when watching Peta propaganda. While having elephants do tricks is definately pathetic and sad and "wrong" depending on where your morals lie, but you gotta bear in mind when Peta publishes a video, be sure it's worst-case-scenario.

I guarantee you that most Elephant trainers aren't drunk rednecks yelling obscenitys at animals who cant understand them, stabbing them with hooks and beating their faces with sticks.

Re: Circus is in my town. My plan to free the Elephants

I almost read through all of this before I had to say a few things here people:

PEOPLE ARE ANIMALS.
If we care so much for each other, we should care about animals JUST as much!! We are MAMMALS, so are ELEPHANTS!!!! If we stop abuse, if we arrest people who are beating up their children, their spouses, their WHOEVERS, we should arrest people who beat up "animals" who are supposedly "lesser" than human beings...

That video disturbed me so much that I actually DREAMPT of elephants being tortured. Maybe that's just because I'm an over-emotional, "thoughtful", teenage girl, or maybe it's because that video was sick and I couldn't bear more than two seconds of it. Watching that was like watching a mom beat her kid or something, and the kid was WAILING!! There's nothing you can do to help that kid, is that what some of you are trying to say? We need a barf emoticon on here.

Elcid, when you say you'd drown a bag of kittens to cure one person of cancer, well.. *hands you trophy* There's your award for the MOST DISTURBING IMAGE OF THE YEAR!! Ew!! Could you REALLY imagine throwing a bag of helpless kittens into a river, from a bridge, watching the bag squirm, hearing the kittens MEOW?? And then eventually, they float down the river, the bag hits rocks, the meowing STOPS.... (insert barfing emoticon HERE, too.) Give me a BREAK. What a horrible thought!!

I'm not trying to be rude here, but COME ON! All the guy was trying to do was say that he's outraged at animal cruelty that he witnessed! All of you guys are being jerks by bringing up curing cancer, drowning kittens, and all that other crazy stuff. This is almost as bad as "someone" starting a thread about how great one musician is, and then a bunch of people start throwing in "well THIS person is better" and "HOW can you appreciate THAT person when there are all of these UNDERRATED artists"???

Let C.Thep speak, and stop trying to argue! If you don't like the point he's making, then DON'T RESPOND! Just cause he HAS a heart and he's trying to get the word out about this CRUELTY doesn't mean YOU have to argue about it!!

Hey, I know this is going to sound "rude" or "snobby" or "mean" because you can't HEAR my voice or FEEL any EMOTION from the computer, but here's what I think about what you just wrote:

1. Elephants are not mice. These elephants are being used for human pleasure and viewing.

2. Human pleasure and viewing is NOT the same as finding cures for life-threatening and/or deadly diseases.

3. Mice are not elephants. Certain elephants are endangered, are they not? Am I just imagining that hundreds up thousands of elephants are hunted EVERY YEAR for their TUSKS, so that some poacher can make the big bucks??? Mice are common -- you can find them everywhere. They are NOT endangered.

4. I agree that people throwing a fit about mice and rats being used in a laboratory is completely ridiculous, but once again I must enforce: ELEPHANTS and MICE are TOTALLY different creatures... Just like human pleasure and cures for diseases are different.

I'm not trying to argue, I'm just trying to make you see the light....

I'd love to try human flesh, especially if it were to be cooked by a fancy chef. I not even kidding. If a doctor examined a inmate for death row for diseases, and offered to have it prepared by Bobby Flay, I wouldn't think twice. Or now that we can grow organs in labratories, grow me a filet and throw it on the grill.
