Close captioning with DVDR?

Can anyone tell me some brand names of DVD recorders that can record close captioning so that i can still view the CC when i playback the discs?
A friend of mine wants to learn spanish by watching stuff on tv and wants to be able to use the CC on a recorded DVD disc so that he has the option to pause, rewind, fast forward etc..........but with the CC available.

Is this possible? Please be specific with brand and model name if you can........thanks!

+1
I learned some Spanish pretty fast with that, then just got too lazy to follow through with lessons each day.
