comp help


I just put together a new computer and my cmos won't find the ide devices but in advanced chipset functions you can change the ide devices in boot order and they work in windows.... Also my computer is really slow when installing programs and my computer has odd lag spikes sometimes... If you need more info i can suppley

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6400 @ 2.13GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory: 1 gig crosair xms2 ddr2 800
Hard Drive:174 GB Total (100 gig sata maxtor, 80 gig toshiba? from old comp)
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT
Operating System:
Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-215

Also i figured out p965 chipsets dont show ide drives in bios but for the slow installation i still can't figure it out

Reset your CMOS. Do this by removing the small watch-like battery from the motherboard. Also unplug the 24 pin ATX power connector as well. Hold down the power switch to completely discharge the system. After about 2-3 minutes put the battery back in and reconnect the ATX plug. Turn on the system.

See if that works.
