Computer help again!

Does anyone know where I can get a good version of a free computer sweeper to remove spyware and all that other stuff that gets on a computer and really slows them down? If you can send a link I would really appreciate it.

I know spybot is- go to download.com (part of cnet.com) to download and see reviews from users. A very good site for your issues, I think.

Yeah, they're both free. CCleaner is a great program.

Go to filehippo.com and get them from there. To clarify something, the only thing ccleaner does is get rid of and clean your registry of unused and miscellaneous files; IT DOES NOT CLEAN YOUR MACHINE OF SPYWARE.

If you suspect you have spyware, the best thing to do is a fresh install of your operating system, as there will always be traces of the spyware in your system, even if you get some sort of magic program that finds it.

Re: Computer help again!

i would skip cccleaner myself if you're not prepared to build a new user profile or a complete reinstall... some registry cleaners go too far and create more problems then they fix from my experience

use adaware and avg free coupled with running msconfig to disable processes. you'll know quickly if a problem is there and not fixable. with little risk of system corruption... glen

Never had a problem with CCleaner and the registry (been using it for more almost four years). Even if your problem is repaired with the other tools, CCleaner is a handy tool for cleaning out junk files and registry errors.

Yeah if in doubt, Ccleaner always ask if you want to back the registry up before cleaning, but I have never had any problems.
Personally I prefer Superantispyware to spybot.
(also free) http://www.filehippo.com/download_superantispyware/
