You know, they make a power supply tester. Costs about 10 bucks. No chance of electrocution either!!!

Impossible.
Do you think everybody lives in an USA big city and have access to all stuff you have?
Nope.
You forget there are people here from all around the globe so no it doesn't cost only 10 bucks, here it costs about 40 dollars, other places are more expensive and even places where people can't buy it so at least my tip can help anybody no matter where they're.
Plus generally power supplies break in the middle of the night in the weekend when you're working with something important(thanks to Puters Evil Entity) so at least you will be able to tell power supply is broken and borrow a friend's one till you'll be able to buy another one, but most important, continue to work on watever you were working.

And again............NO electrocution with 12v

I'm not really a hardware guy but isn't the green wire the ground?

Interesting. There seems to be a lot of tips on this on the net. I never rooted around with the power supply myself.

Mike I don't know if colors vary on different countries, they probably do but still, there are USA videos about it that can tell you which colors(wires) to use
It's an extremelly simple tip that can show you in the middle of the night if power supply is the problem then you could borrow a friend's one till be able to buy a new one.
If power supply fan works, cry cause problem will be more expensive

We have a computer with a dead PS. It's not in use so I might just try this for fun.
