Cool picture I finally caught one in action :)
After months of trying to catch a bolt of lightning in a picture I finally got one.
I must of snapped 100 photos of this storm that rolled in and finally my reaction time finally caught one. Taking a picture of a lightning bolt isnt as easy as it would seem you literally have a millisecond of reaction time to get that pic.

Cool picture! I love a good thunder storm. Someone should really put a fresh coat of paint on the sign post though.
After looking at the picture again....if you look at the lightning where it moves out to the right below the clouds..it looks like a profile of an old man with a flat nose.

I remember studying it, it is when tree's particles move a certain way. Also I've seen ball lightning before when I was 3, I so wish I could get a pic of that!!! Maybe you'll get a pic of it if you wait long enough since its extremely rare
So I expect you to sit outside whenever it is storming and if you see ball lightning before you die get a pic
Just I think you should move to Fl if you want lots of lightning, I think it's the most in the world here or something

It is definitely a cool picture! However . . .
You were putting yourself at great risk taking that photo, though. I lead outdoor programs and lightning is one of the most dangerous things one will find outside. Even though it doesn't appear to be raining where you snapped the shot, lightning can and does strike in advance of a storm, sometimes miles out in front of it. I urge you to take your photos from a safe place like a grounded/insulated structure.

Re: Cool picture I finally caught one in action :)
yes lightning travels from the ground up, it kind of meets in the middle really, the charge from the ground travels up and usually a bit of the charge from the cloud travels down to meet it.

sweet photo, i've tried that before without success, was when i was way younger and on a regular camera.
The rents were less than impressed when they developed 2 films of a dark rain cloud lol.
