Downloading from YouTube

Hi Folks,

Is it possible to download from YouTube (like you can on Google Videos)? If so, then how?

Thanks

Yes it is possible but it's a pain in the ass. If you have mozilla firefox there's an extension called video downloader that enables you to download videos from youtube and other websites. But, then you have to convert the .flv file to some other format like mpeg. I tried it, but I was too lazy to go through with it.

Thanks. I have downloaded the software, a fiddled around with it a bit, but can't seem to capture the correct part of the screen. And there is no sound.

What settings do you use?
What procedure do you use when recording off of YouTube?
Do you press 'play' on the YouTube video before press 'capture on the software? Or is it vice-versa?

Thanks!

Re: Downloading from YouTube

Theres a button called "set" which is under the capture area tab. What I do is uncheck the "show cursor" and "follow the cursor mode". When you click the set button , you can drag a capture area template over what ever you want to capture on the screen. Once the area has been set, you press play on the youtube vid and press the capture video tab on the aviscreen. Theres a help section on the link I posted which will explain most of this.

Or you can check this out. Paste in a YouTube link and it will convert it in to a downloadable file link. Paste it in a browser window address bar and it will prompt you to save the file.

Re: Downloading from YouTube

when you see the video is 100% donwloaded (on IE), go to your temporary internet files and save the last modified .flv file. This is a flash movie, which can be viewed using software like this flv-player: http://www.martijndevisser.com/blog/...player-updated

Ok. I have downloaded a specific video and converted it to flv format.
I downloaded the flv player and ran the installation. The player will not let me run my downloaded flv file. It asks me to drag and drop the file into the window in order to run it, but my computer won't let me do that. Now what?
