Ear PLug recommendations - Frequency tuned ?

I hope some of you lot can help, I have a new band and its the loudest iver ever been in.
ive had pain in my ears following rerhersal so I tried using earplgs.
the problem with them is they seem to accentuate all the lower frequencies and cut out almost ALL the frequencies that my guitar produces.
I can hear vocal, bass and most of the drums no problem as well as my E and A strings.
but if im soloing - nothing

I need a set of frequency compensated ear plugs but im not even certain that such things exist.

can anyone recommend me any ?

Re: Ear PLug recommendations - Frequency tuned ?

I cant recommend any in particular since I have never used them, but they do exist.
I have seen them in Sam Ash and Guitar Center. They are supposed to knock so many dB off the entire range instead of knocking off more high end as generic earplugs do.
And I'm sure some are better than others so I would be interested in hearing from anyone that has used them also.

Re: Ear PLug recommendations - Frequency tuned ?

For decent, widely-available earplugs, I use Skull Screws by Hearos. They attenuate dB levels more than they actually cut any particular frequency. So, less loud vs. tonally dead hearing protection is the result. I can only speak from my own experience with these; they work for me, and when I'm playing, I'm usually about two or three feet from a half stack and a 2x12 combo running in stereo. These do a pretty fair job.

Re: Ear PLug recommendations - Frequency tuned ?

I found some chaps and they are on their way !
I got em off teh bay and put in high fidelity earplugs and came up with some 20dB attenuation plugs that attenuate evenly through the frequency range - or so they say..
ill let you know what they are like when ive tried them

I dont know if its just me getting old but once ive played for 4 hours in the rehersal room at high volumes I feel beat up for teh rest of the next day

I've been using these:

There is still some high end drop off, but they do the job.

+1, I've been using these for the past 10 years. Compared to regular ear plugs these are heaven.

I also always use them when going to concerts too.
