Fakes

I know this topic has been beaten up, I just reported like 8 more fakes to "them". Here's the thing, I don't like that they are out there, but I don't get pissed when someone markets it as a "Jem-style", or even "replica". At least that's honest, and you know what you will be getting. But the ones who advertise it as legit, that really gets me. We all know the fakes after seeing SOOO many of them, but we all need to inundate (double word score) "them" with complaints and report the fakes to try to nip this in the bud somewhat.

Re: Fakes

Im starting to do it whenever I see one now. Im on there everyday and sell unrelated music stuff, but always lookin at Jems. In the last, I'd say 3 months, there has been just a ridiculous amount of fakes out of China. Im also starting to see people post the fakes in the states and Europe pretending like they arent aware that its fake. Ive seen poor bastards bid over $500 for this crap. They stopped the fake Rolex epidemic on there, but why not the guitars? You cant even sell a watch as a replica(even if you state it as a replica), so I dont see why they get away with this. Guess China can do what ever they want since they make everything today.

Re: Fakes

Jem, very valid points. I wonder if it has anything to do with the amount of complaints they receive. I would think so. The squaky wheel and all. Perhaps they shoulder a bit of the responsibility if they are warned repeatedly. Regardless, you know someone wouldn't be selling it right after they got it unless they knew it was a fake. I hope they only make the white ones, most jems would be pretty hard and pricey to fake accurately I would think. Not that accuracy is a big concern to them, but it would be much easier to spot to the average Joe (non Jem guru).
