Drew I know where you are. Nice country out there. Which school? Vt brews do rock, indeed.

Long Trail Double Bag
Long Trail Hibernator - I always bring some of this back to NJ with me.
Otter Creek Stovepipe Porter!

I was turned on to the Otter Creek stuff at the yearly World's Fair in Tunbridge, on Rte. 110.

Spitfire ale! Good sheité!

Unfortunately my stomach can't take beer anymore, except those made of corn, so Sol & Corona is all I can drink without ****ting rivers the next day...

I wish we had root beer here, though. It's not beer, I know. But good, in a wicked way.

Best: Small "Mom and Pop's" local breweries in Southern Germany. Like Biberacher Ur-Dunkel or Ulrichsbier.

Worst: Strange fruit beers (do they qualify as beer anyway?) from Belgium

Always remember the German "Reinheitsgebot" (purity law) from the year 1516: the only ingredients used for the brewing of beer must be Barley, Hops and Water.

Oh man, where to begin? I try to check out as many different brews as possible.

My faves so far. My top 3 are notated, the rest are in no particular order.
  • #1 Ayinger Dunkel or Doppelbock (Germany)
  • #2 Paulaner Salvator (Germany)
  • #3 Shiner Bock (Shiner!, Texas)
  • Any brew from Mickey Finn's MicroBrewery (Libertyville, Illinois)
  • Mac & Jack's African Amber (Redmond, Washington)
  • Chinook Ale (Oregon)
  • Dos Equis Amber (Mexico)
  • Negro Modelo (Mexico)
  • Arrogant Bastard Ale, 8.5% alcohol! (Northwest USA)
  • Beck's Dark
  • The heavy hitters: Guiness, Boddington's, Murphy's Stout
I like a bunch of others, but these I crave! If it's a dark brew, I'm usually a happy guy.

The worst:
Pretty much ANY malt beer. Lucky Lager, Busch Light, The BEAST, Bud Light.

Love a good beer thread!
Best? Anything by Spaten, including the Oktoberfest, and Pilzner Urquell (sp?), Beck's Dark is fun, Heineken Dark is good, dark is good
Worst? Miller, absolutely worthless!

Re: Favourite and worst BEER!!!!!!!!

Favs - Guiness Stout, Otter Creek, Seirra Nevadas, and local brew St Georges.

Worst - Elephant. Seemingly bottled to honor the contents of pachyderm bladders. Corona, and the alcohol free stuff.

Re: Favourite and worst BEER!!!!!!!!

Favorite (I'm gonna stick with stuff for my list that's easy to get where I live):
summer - Hoegaarden, Boddington's
winter - Oatmeal Stout (there are a few different one's I like)

Worst: Pretty much any Canadian or U.S. major label brewery beer. For really good North American beer you have to look to the micros.
