Flat tax is a 23 percent flat tax on bought goods possible?

No Federal tax, or State just a 23 percent sales tax. That way it catches illegals and people cheating on returns or not filing. Would it work?

Lots of people think it would work. Of course, your expenses would go way up due to the tax but your income tax would go away so it would kind of even out, hopefully

In order for it to work, though, you'd have to abolish federal and state income tax first, to make sure the politicians don't get you coming and going.

It'll never happen though. Politicians will never give up the power they wield over you with the income tax, it's how they control your behaviour. It's used for social engineering as much as revenue generation.

I'm sure they could control the population by raising the flat tax too. Grab your guns I'll be in the mountains with my camo and guns.

What about us who do not have State Tax? 23% is too high.

I never understood how some states have State tax while others don't.

Nope. Who distributes the money brought in? Who and what is exempt?
US Tax law needs serious reform, but this proposal is just air, there's no substance to it. It could take 20 years to implement. There is zero chance for something like this to be implemented.

It's called equal opportunity. Equal opportunity to get your money, LOL.

I would be up for it. The catch is that the money would no longer go to the state and the government, it would go directly to the government and they would in turn give money to the states to do whatever.

The main reason why some states have taxes and some done is for the well being of the state, such as building new roads, parks, etc.
