Flight 1549
Did anyone catch the special on the flight 1549 that crashed in the Hudson River on the discovery channel? If you get the chance, check it out, Intense!!!
Incredible!
So nice to see a miracle and Heroes shine. We hear about death and destruction so much, this is an amazing story! They just have to make a movie about it...
Two mins up, engines out, whoa... The total flight time from take off to hitting the Hudson is 6 min, that is unreal. The pilot knew he had to hit the water at a pitch of 11 degrees, 150 MPH for the best chance to survive without breaking up. Wow...
I would imagine his glider experience helped him understand the feel of the aircraft and do such a flawless job landing, hitting the water at 150 MPH.
Just amazing!

Also check out the air traffic control recordings (if you haven't already) to hear just how calm this guy was.

Yeah, that crash was a miracle. Since, nobody was killed or injured I guess we can kinda make fun of the crash though... "Welcome to the Hudson river terminal, your baggage may be slightly wet, we hope you enjoy your stay in New York, or New Jersey!"

More than my baggage would have been wet. Probably before we hit the water.

Re: Flight 1549
I get chills every time I hear that while picturing the event, So freeakin cool how you can tell he was ridiculously focused on a solution, he said in an interview he had to suppress his adrenalin, and he knew he could land it, had confidence, was focused on saving passengers and crew.
man, I recomend looking for the TV show all about it, Discovery channel, it's called "What really happened" Flight 1549, something like that, It's intense.

Enough of that landing already. Everyone lived and the plane landed safely.
