gamecube or playstation 2...
I'm in a real dilemma...
a playstation 2 here will set you back about 1000-1300 NKR, and that's used.
and a norwegian el-chain is selling a gamecube with mario-kart and zelda for 1000 NKR. i LOVE zelda, and have always been a megaman fan, so i'm a bit drawn to the gamecube, the only thing that worries me is that i've never owned one.... PS2 got more "adult" games i imagine... what would YOU do?

Re: gamecube or playstation 2...
PS2 if you want more realistic games and a wider selection with like a million sports games and racing games etc, but GC if your into like animation, stuff like mario, or other rpg games..

Re: gamecube or playstation 2...
GC has hardly any RPGs unless you count zelda (I'd say it's adventure). It's more of a party console with mario kart, mario part and stuff. PS2 for because of the game selection especially RPGs, racing games and fighting games. Everything else on PC

Re: gamecube or playstation 2...
I owned an XBOX and a PS2. I sold both of them because I don't really play video games anymore, but if I did, I would most definitely go for the GameCube.
The XBOX or PS2 may seem like the better machine at first, but the games for GameCube (and all Nintendo systems for that matter) are usually the ones that are innovative and fun. Yeah, they might be sort of kiddish, but do you see anything like Pikmin for XBOX or PS2? Or how about the donkey kong bongos?

Re: gamecube or playstation 2...
Exactly. There is no way the PS3 will arrive before Xmas, and if it does, it will be extremely rushed. And thats not what we want. Sony are yet to fully release the PSP globally yet! Yet alone the PS3. Europe are still to get the release of the PSP remember.
As for the thing between GC vs PS2. I say PS2 all the way. Dont get me wrong I love the Gamecube, but the games just arent good enough. I love the pad, and love the prices of them too. But the PS2 is just far better in terms of graphics, games, looks, practicality. Its a DVD player as well, so that always comes in handy.
Just think of it this way. With the PS2 you are getting MGS3, GT4, DMC3 and the rest of the bunch. Far better games recently than any console.
Thinking of getting a PS3 yet is just pointless, because its so far off. Buying one of the current consoles (XBOX, PS2, GC) will last you until XMAS and New Year at least. Because new consoles wont be out until then properly.

Re: gamecube or playstation 2...
btw, anyone get a PSP?
I bought one at launch date.....this thing is frickin awesome. I was a bit skeptical about the specs and I usually despise handhelds....but once I got to play one, I'm just blown away. It looks so damn beautiful. I don't play consoles much except Halo 2......now I just love playing with my PSP on the couch while watching Family Guy at the same time...lol. I'm gonna work on uploading some
Shawn Lane
and Vai videos onto my memory stick
anywho, I think the GC blows....not enough third party support. Sony and Microsoft has been takin them.

Re: gamecube or playstation 2...
XBOX games look much better than PS2. Even the GC has more graphical capabilities than the PS2. Having said this, the PS2 has more games and has some very interesting exclusive titles such as GT4 or Tekken5. There are some exclusive XBOX titles that are just amazing though. Tecmo Games (the Dead or Alive franchise), Halo 2 and Rally Sport Challenge 2 are just a sample of the XBOX exclusive games that make it worth the purchase. The graphical level on any of this games is on a completely different level than any PS2 game has to offer.
So, if you are not going to spend a sh*tload of money on games before Xmas, your best option may be to get the XBOX with the best 10-15 games it has, and wait for the PS3 ror the XBOX NEXT release
