Getting music off an iPod

So my ipod died. I got it fixed and then a few days later it died again. I went back to the apple store and they told me there was nothing they could do. So I ordered an other iPod. Now my old iPod has come back to life miraculously. The only thing is I'm not sure how long I have till it decides to **** the bed again. Is there any way I can get the music from this iPod off of it and load it back onto my computer so I don't have to re-import all that music? I've heard of programs that do this but I can't seem to find one for Mac.

Re: Getting music off an iPod

That last link is your best shot but I never understood why Apple designed the iPod this way. Apple is a company which prides itself on ease of use but there are only minor advantages to just drag and drop system Creative uses. That still refrain the iPod from being the best player in the world (IMO of course) but it still has a lot of room for improvement.

A future precaution for this kind of stuff, always try and get your music legally and on CD. I never understood why people choose to buy their music off websites or iTunes, it kills the whole experience.

Anyway, hope you get everyting in order soon

2 more options:
www.mediamonkey.com
www.redchairsoftware.com

BTW, anyone else tried www.alltunes.com
semi, sort-of legal MP3 download site about 10-20% of what iTunes costs.

if you purchused your music from the iTunes music store and you have the latest version of iTunes you can just plug it in and it should upload the songs.

Apple imposed that limit to placate the record companies.
PodWorks works great to copy tunes from an iPod to a Mac.

Do people know if these sort of software packages work with other mp3 jukeboxes, e.g. Creative Zen? Or is it just iPod only?

I need something thats quick and easy to back-up all my files on my Zen.

Anybody got any ideas/help?

I think it's stupid though. If someone stole your iPod and had that intent anyways, they would definitely know how to get it off of one's iPod. It's not that hard to do, especially on Windows PC's.
