Goin' to duh Bronx...I am psyched!!!

I just got tickets off TICKETSNOW to go to see the Yankees for "THE FINAL SEASON" with my son Hunter. I'm going to see them on August 28th (Red Sox), and 29th (Blue Jays). Just booked the hotel. I've been promising my son all year that we would go (he's never been there, and is a big Yankee fan...like me), and I have been so freaking busy. The last time I was at the stadium Dave Winfield (my favorite player) was playing for the Twins, and my son wasn't even born yet...

GO YANKEES....

A great place to be sure~
but don't venture too far from the stadium. A few blocks away and it can get ugly.
Hunt's Point has some nice, safe areas too if you want to see some sights.

You WILL be approached to buy stuff as you get near the stadium- say no, don't make eye contact and keep walking and you'll be fine.

No doubt about it...

I've been to New York many many times. Lots of family in Manhattan. The Joseph Patelson Music House across from Carnegie Hall is owned by my family.

The one thing I miss in Scranton is good Pizza...That will be the thing to do first...I'm going there 2 days early so we can visit with few cousins...

Just thank your lucky stars the Yanks aren't playing the O's on both of those dates. Otherwise, you'd be in for a big ol' cuppa No Joy in duh Bronx!

Re: Goin' to duh Bronx...I am psyched!!!

I was there last year when the Yanks were playing Oakland and my buddy and I managed to buy scalped tickets after the first inning had just begun. Any of the legit tickets were WAY too expensive ($120 plus). Anyway we walked up the street to a pizza joint and a scalper tried to sell us $80 tickets for $100. I said no, we only want to pay $50. Another scalper overheard this and came running over saying "I'll sell you these ones for fifty!" The guy we had been talking to said "these are my customers" I said- "Not if you won't sell me yours for $50 we aren't" He conceded and let us have his for fifty. Only when we got into Yankee stadium did we realize how good the seats were- 13th row right off third base! Actually the best seats I've ever had for a MLB game and I've seen plenty in Seattle, LA, Detroit and Toronto. I live on the Westcoast so we were silently cheering for Oakland. The fans around us were great and very friendly and the hotdogs at Yankee stadium have to be the best in the world. I'm not kidding.

So anyway, if price or availability are a concern, I'd recommend trying the scalper route. It can be a little sketchy I guess, but I enjoy the challenge and you can pick up a good deal. Remember, after the game starts, the scalpers are hemorrhaging cash every minute they don't sell those tix.

The guys we sat next too were the season ticket holders that had sold our tickets to the scalper and they told us that we paid less for them than the scalper had! Haha.

Good luck and have fun.

Yankees beat the Red Sox (thank goodness) 3-2 The seats were right behind first base. Great game, and even better seats. Today we are right behind (to the side of) home plate. This is all field level, so my son is loving it...Hope the Yanks pull out another win today
