Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease

Well, I have it!
It's just SO grand. I woke up this morning and just started crying. I have something else, too. A virus in my throat. My mouth is covered in sores, as is my throat, and my gums are all swollen. I can't close my mouth because my lips hurt too much, I can't chew because my tongue is covered in sores and my gums are too swollen. My fingers are swollen, too. Just google it if you want to know more.

Not fun.

~ Katrina

P.S. Has anyone else ever had it??!

Re: Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease

Man, you are REALLY going through some tough times! Sigh. You seem to be hanging in there, though. You seem like a tough person. How long did the doctors say before you're well again?

It's kind of scary to hear you say that, seeing that that illness killed a real lot of cows out here in The Netherlands. Not the chocolate eating cows but the ones who say "Mooooo!".

Hang in there anirtaK!

Kind regards,
Myst and rain

Re: Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease

That made me laugh.
Anirtak. hehe

Sounds like an Elven name!

Anyways.
Yeah, the doctor said it has about a seven-day course.
Sooo.....
Hopefully by next Tuesday I'll be back 100%.
I can't miss much more school, or I'll be a'FAILIN'!

Thanks MR.

Re: Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease

Here you go, Jim.
JUST for you:

Hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) is a common illness of infants and children. It is characterized by fever, sores in the mouth, and a rash with blisters. HFMD begins with a mild fever, poor appetite, malaise ("feeling sick"), and frequently a sore throat. One or 2 days after the fever begins, painful sores develop in the mouth. They begin as small red spots that blister and then often become ulcers. They are usually located on the tongue, gums, and inside of the cheeks. The skin rash develops over 1 to 2 days with flat or raised red spots, some with blisters. The rash does not itch, and it is usually located on the palms of the hands and soles of the feet. It may also appear on the buttocks. A person with HFMD may have only the rash or the mouth ulcers.

AND:
Viruses from the group called enteroviruses cause HFMD. The most common cause is coxsackievirus A16; sometimes, HFMD is caused by enterovirus 71 or other enteroviruses. The enterovirus group includes polioviruses, coxsackieviruses, echoviruses and other enteroviruses.

Re: Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease

Glad I could brighten up things somewhat for you. I've never had a serious physical condition like the one you're having. I can't IMAGINE what that must be like!

Anyways AnirtaK would make a good Elven name. Anirtak Nahsel. That sounds cool!

Be well soon!

Kind regards,
Myst and ran

As if this isn't something you do every day lol

Hope your malady heals quickly, Katrina! I've never had anything that sounds that bad, but when I had Pnumonia, I just wished I could go to sleep and wake up a month later feeling well!

Get better soon,

~M

Yes, do! Infants do the funniest things, even if they do occasionally lose bladder control.

Atleast you're wise for an infant.

You may want to rethink that anology, ~Mario
