Here comes Hurricane IKE.

I am so frustrated with Hurricane season this year. Looks like Galveston and lower areas south of Houston have been issued a mandatory evacuation.

Traffic is gonna be absoultely sick.

We got a sht ton of rain here from Fay. It was actually worse than when the actual hurricanes came through 3 years ago.

Good luck with everything, it's always a pain in the ass this time of year.

Stay out of the quick sand traps!

Seriously though, take care of yourselves and stay safe. We're keeping a good thought for all of you guys and gals down there in the hurricane's path.

Re: Here comes Hurricane IKE.

Well, I went to the office this morning and it wasn't bad. But by lunch time traffic was starting to get pretty ridiculous. I let everyone go home so they wouldn't get caught it the mess.

It is gonna be stupid around here for the next several days.

Oh, and the golf tournament got cancelled. Good thing, because the customers on my team were all running for the hills.

Re: Here comes Hurricane IKE.

Well, it looks like the water in Galveston is rising faster than anticipated.

Some of the areas are already starting to flood.

Oh and it hasn't rained yet!!

Re: Here comes Hurricane IKE.

The storm surge isn't here yet, but the water is already breaking over the seawall in Galveston.

Also, looks like downtown Galveston is starting to flood. But at least it hasn't rained yet. LOL

This storm is gonna have a very big surge. They are predicting around an 18 to 20 footer.

Re: Here comes Hurricane IKE.

Well, there is a freighter with 22 people on it about 90 miles offshore and the Coast Guard can't get to them.
Seems they have lost power.

There are so many offshore oil and gas structures that there is no telling what kind of damage this boat is gonna do.

There are also, some people in Galveston who have already been flooded in, (because they decided to stay) and now Rescue Services is trying to get them out.

This is still without a storm surge and high tide is not in yet.

Re: Here comes Hurricane IKE.

The news just announced that they expect Kemah to be GONE.
Looks like the surge on this storm is gonna be alot larger than expected.

I cannot beleive that people stayed on Galveston. That is absolutely stupid.

The wind is picking up a little here about 26 MPH right now.

Re: Here comes Hurricane IKE.

Yeah, staying was an extremely risky and foolish choice. If we were manditorily evacuated I would keep going until I was pulling into my sister's driveway in Nebraska. I bet tonight's news will be fairly full of weather destruction stories. Still keeping a good thought for those people in the way...
