How do you package a guitar with no case!!?
Hey Guys,
This is a silly one, which probably begs for me to be shot for the sheer lack of common sence, but meh here it goes!
If you're too tight to buy a case for a guitar you intend to sell on evilbay, how DO you package it, and furthermore, how much do you charge for transport.
Infact, how do you transport the damned thing in the first place?
any help would be GREATLY appreciated
Spikey!xx

Wrap it up in loads of bubble wrap before putting it in a secure cardboard box.

I use bubble wrap and a ton of packing peanuts, and since I work in a shoe store we have a over abundance of tissue paper to wad up and throw in there as well.. I usually also wrap cardboard around the neck for nothing more than nick protection.

I never used to believe it, but, removing the neck and then wrapping both the body and neck in bubble wrap before putting it into a box full of packing peanuts and/or screwed up newspaper does the trick perfectly.
Just remember to wrap PLENTY of bubblewrap around the body and neck and make sure they don't rattle in the box and it'll reach it's destination nice and secure

What I've seen too is that "eggcrate" foam stuff. I received a guitar wrapped in that- worked beautifully- resent it with the same stuff, same result.

Im all for that method too. Stops those horrible neck crack joints which all too often happen in transit too!

As far as I've found out most carriers will not insure a guitar not shipped in a case.

Re: How do you package a guitar with no case!!?
fedex will insure with out a case.. so will UPS..
most guitars shipped to stores are not shipped in cases if you think about it for a second..
Cardboard is all they use.. Anyone in a
music store
or has worked there will tell ya as well.
So yes they will insure but they will always blame the shipper before they take fault..
I shipped some competition subwoofers when I got out of competing that weighed in at 72lbs a piece in 1" thick MDF crates I built about 90lbs each when done. They were both damaged they tried to tell me that they were not packed properly.. I laughed and sent them pictures.. Well 3 days later my claim was fulfilled.
If you dont ship with out a case take pictures of the packing process for your protection and for insurance claims if it does arise. I have shipped out about 20-25 guitars with out cases.
