I Hate the bay............

So I was the high bidder for a Crystal Planet and all of the sudden the seller cancels the auction because "The Item is no longer for sale". You know, I've got no problems when a seller states it in the auction that the item could be sold outside of the bay and the listing could get cancelled but, when they don't state it and they simply cancel the auction, it really gets on my nerves.

The bad thing about this is that when the sellers get screwed, everyone bashes the lowlifes who scam them but, when a legitimate buyer gets shafted out of buying a great guitar, no one cares..............

I'm friggin' pissed.

Jimmy

Re: I Hate the bay............

That sucks! I've done quite abit of business on the bay and never really had any problems.I have ended auctions early but thats only been if I've reached a deal with someone before any bids have been placed, wouldnt do it if someone had placed a bid.
I think alot of deals get done outside of the bay,but thats because the fees plus the paypal fees can add up.
Good luck finding what you want

If he doesn't state that he reserves the right to cancel the auction at any time, I don't think he can do it.

Leave bad feedback for him.

I have at least 1 auction cancelled on me every week. If you're not high bidder when it matters, when the auction actually finishes, then you being high bidder means absolutely nothing. The only way to be sure you "were going to buy it" is if you had bid $1,000,000.

Re: I Hate the bay............

Well Rich, Let's put it this way, I had put a 2k bid on it and had an extra 3 to add on to it if anyone else decided to try to buy it. It's like i said earlier, it wouldn't have bothered me if the guy had stated in the ad that he reserved the right to cancel the auction at any time if he were to sell it outside the bay. I tend to take an auction seriously when I'm trying to buy something and I generally read every disclaimer before bidding so there's no issues later. So, you wouldn't happen to know who bought it, would ya?

I didn't, I didn't care, and I also know every single auction can be closed at any time with a mouse click. Nobody needs or usually never discloses anything.

That was the case until recently Rich

They've actually changed it now so that no matter what reason - you can't cancel an auction in the last 12 hours........

I think its fee generating by E*ay as before people didn't have to pay for an expensive reserve on there auctions and if they didn't like the price could cancel the auction 2 seconds before it finishing

But now i think it forces people into paying loads more to list with a reserve price, as they can't pull it in the last 12 hours.....

i try and do as many deals away from E*ay as possible - to save on listing, FVF and Paypal fees...... Sure adds up...... £400 a month sometimes- OUCH!

Re: I Hate the bay............

So except for the last 12 hours so statement is still true. I have no intention of ever selling for business on there ever again so I don't follow the minutia.

If it had been there when it matters I would have been a player. I have several asking for them recently, which can only be a good thing after the years they've spent undervalued.
