ummm, i think it's a good idea but don't you think a good EMT would take an injured person's cell phone and scroll down and call a couple people if there was an issue? "OH DAMN, THERE IS NO ICE LISTING ON THIS PHONE!!! IT'S HOPELESS FOR THE PATIENT!" maybe i'm misunderstanding but that's what i would do.

You would just scroll through someone's cell phone and call people at random if you were a 'good' EMT responding to the scene of an accident? Why exactly would you do that again?

the same reason you would scroll through looking for the ICE contact. if i found no ICE contact i would contact someone on the cell if it was a matter of life and death. i'm sure you could find a MOM or DAD listing in there. or have the nurse at the hospital do it. it doesn't matter who does it, but whoever is looking for an ICE listing and doesn't find one could probably call someone else in the phone. make sense?

That makes sense, though I think the point is that currently no one does anything of the sort. Part of the push to standardize on something is to get people used to looking in the first place.
