Re: IE 8 and Small Font Size In Forum
if you're on
120 DPI your monitor is too small
for you given the screen resolution at use.
Firefox has tabs, no need to grab mouse ctrl-W among other things closes a tab or configure it yourself... glen

Which makes the need to grab the keyboard. The mouse is always under my hand, the keyboard isn't.
So does that mean the mouse functions won't work in FF?
Or do I have to breakdown and just go buy a bigger monitor.

Evidently you're not addicted to a 5 button mouse. I bought 10 to have as spares when they discontinued them!

CTR x does nothing here, not sure what it does for you
outside left click - back
left click
wheel - double click - scroll
right click
outside right - close

Rich, you can also install this...
http://www.microsoft.com/typography/...ePowertoy.mspx
which will turn on Cleartype fonts, which are genrally easier to view.
This was something MS released with Vista, but this turns it on for XP.

Rich, I'm surprised you haven't tried to hook up your pc to your rear projection... I would try doing that before buying a bigger monitor.
If you just want to get a different monitor, then try this one:

P.S.: I can be your IT consultant if you need home service. I'm sure we can work something out.

Re: IE 8 and Small Font Size In Forum
jb, I like that monitor, but I got this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824001273
It can be had for around 2 bills, and the contrast ratio is better.

It's 3 1/2" smaller. Size does matter, no matter what your GF says

Re: IE 8 and Small Font Size In Forum
My buddy had the 24", and it was really nice, but I gotta say, I like the 22" better.
Eventhough it's 1680 x 1050 vs. 1920 x 1200, it is much better bang for the buck as far as a computer monitor goes. On top of that, you have a DCR or 20,000:1 vs. 10,000:1.
We're not talking TV's here.

Re: IE 8 and Small Font Size In Forum
The primary reason to buy a new monitor would be one thing, screen size. If it wasn't my year old 19" would be just fine.

Re: IE 8 and Small Font Size In Forum
I've noticed almost no difference in monitors from the Samsung 24" vs. the 22", side by side, and preferred the 22", hence the reason I got it.
I'd rather spend half the money for something just as good if not better.
If you want big, there are plenty of places to get 30" monitors.

Re: IE 8 and Small Font Size In Forum
3 1/2" for $100 isn't twice the price, and I know what 30" monitors cost, and have no interest in spending that kinda money on one.
Otherwise this thread was dead for a couple months and I've just been getting used to squinting.
