I am in Northern California which includes San Jose, Gilroy, San Francisco (all with GCs and Ibanezes on wall) and the like but for this simple poll, the USA.

I may make a more specific one for USA and others like maybe Mattias can make one for Japan and others can break up common Jemsite members' nations like UK, Germany, Canada, Australia, etc.

There was a very early thread trying to get people to list locations in handle, but I wanted to get a visual at least from the high production posters.

Where are you typing from/currently live?

So formal.

South Jersey.

Remember the campaign to secede from the North in the 80's?? 8O
Is it true that South Jersey was full of 'Southern Sympathizers' during the Civil War? I've heard that there are people living in the Pine Barrens that think the Civil War is still going on...... but I know better than to believe that......just like the 'myths' of the inbred 'Mountain Men' of West Virginia trapping people and eating them like in 'Wrong Turn'. ;)

Huntington WV.
Hillbilly Country.
Sadly, this neighborhood is going downhill and fast.
There was a shooting 5 blocks away not long ago.
Been looking to move for a while now, going to happen soon.
I've been trying to talk Jeff into seeing if he can transfer to the Jersey shore. His company has a warehouse there. ;)
Never happen though, we both grew up here...

I do know what you were talking about, I have family that live in Jersey.
I've heard from dubious sources that during the Civil War the southern part of New Jersey had a large number of Confederate sympathizers, and that many actually joined the Confederate Army.
I don't know if it's true, I've never found it in any history books. I just thought someone from Jersey may know something about the history that isn't exactly 'common knowledge'. That wasn't an 'old' joke nor was I confused by what you meant. :p
And no, Deliverance wasn't a true story, to the best of my knowledge. ;)
Although; I do get a little nervous driving alone through deep back-woods and on dirt roads in 'hollers' (hollows, you Eastern Folk would call it a 'valley').
I have seen some wild looking folk in this state.
But I'd imagine I'd feel the same driving through Trenton, or Newark, or Camden.
Is Camden still in the Top 10 most dangerous cities list?
I'm pretty sure Detroit dethroned Camden as number 1.
Oh, and about us 'hillbillies'... you do know the 'tooth brush' was invented by a hillbilly, right?
Otherwise it would have been called a 'teeth brush'. ;) <rim-shot>

Merry old England for me. Live in a small town 1500 yrs old and not much has changed in that time. Don't wanna rush things according to folks in these parts.

It's all tea and scones with the Queen round here - she's a fan of the Jem incidentally, favouring the DNA. Can't stand rosewood boards however and reveals an industrial turn of phrase when discussing them.

I like 'The Wildwoods' and 'Cape May' area.
I'm biased though; I have family in Wildwood. :D
And anyone that's ever had Sam's Pizza on the Wildwood boardwalk ("Watch the tram-car please") will most likely agree; there's no other pizza like it. It's almost orgasmic. ;)
Went to A.C. when I was finally old enough to gamble. Wasn't thrilled with it at all. The boardwalk was 'okay', and the casinos were nice but the surrounding city was a little scary.

We also have six flags, but for you guys with bad backs... ;)

Jersey isn't too bad, although I don't pay taxes yet so...

Fun fact for you- Hasidic Jews have taken over some of the towns because somewhere in Jerusalem or something there is a sign that says "go to Lakewood NJ, that is where the messiah will be born". I don't know about any bodies beliefs, but the idea that a messiah of any sorts will be born five minutes from my house on the jersey shore is a bit incredulous :D

Seriously? Lakewood, NJ? Hmm, I just don't see it. :p
But hey, anyplace on the planet is fair game, no?
As a Catholic I believe Jesus will be coming back, but I think he'll show up in the Holy Land, not in the Toll Road capital of the world. ;)
I know the Jews don't think Jesus was the Messiah; so even if he does come back, they'll still be looking in Jersey, I assume.

I am surprised and very happy we have so many votes already.

Off the top of my head I don't even recognize 24 names on a week to week basis here and probably could name just 10 off the top of my head like Mattias, steathtastic, rich, guitarmageddon, kyle, and Italian PC Tech and a few others. I wonder if there's at least 40 or 50 regular posters here that log on at least once a month and make at least one post?? I also belong to a forum that is in top 1,000 worldwide (and this includes Google, Microsoft, GM, pron, etc) and has dozens of daily posters who make 2 or more posts per day. One poster put up 200 posts in a single day. The mod had to quit his job as a newly minted MD to take on this increasingly busy and now lucrative website.

Vancouver in beautiful BC =) I actually live about 45 minutes outside of Vancouver in a suburb...I'm pretty sure everyone thinks that their home town is the best place in the world but I really do think the Vancouver area is amazing - mountains, ocean, mild weather great standard of living...only problem is it's unbelievably expensive to buy a house here...

I want to visit California and Colorado so maybe I can visit 63Blazer and GuitarMechanic when I do =)

That's terribly expensive, a lot like SF. But when the next real estate bubble pops again, there will still be some value left when a house ditches 500 grand in value overnight. But people who bought in the last few years will again be lining up to jump off the Golden Gate Bridge. This article is a lot like the ones that said the next bubble somehow won't affect the Bay*Area just like the ones who believe for some reason there will never again be a big earthquake over here. ;)

If I had a choice I would still go with Vancouver.

OMG! Vancouver's real estate is in a whole level of pricey up there with J Craft RGs. ;)

We had a similarly weird housing thing happen to the suburbs around San Jose, but not as extreme as Vancouver, but we got slaughtered when it all fell down. We got hit almost as bad as San Diego and Stockton, also in California.

I have a feeling that Beverly Hills and Vancouver fared better in the great recession than Northern California.

During the darkest of times, California real estate was so far underwater (some still is) that people got up and left the state. It was a reverse gold rush and really so soon after dot.bomb. My old dentist, friend from law school, and childhood friend who all made a killing on paper went bust during that bubble's popping. It was devastating and very sad. To see decades of hard work destroyed in a few months was like a storm.
