Ipod help
So i checked all over the web looking for a fix to the new problem my ipod has acquired and i havent found anything. My Ipod is a 30gig i think 5th generation (2006). The problem is it simply doesnt play sound. It will play videos silently and it will appear to play the music but on mute if you will. When you select a song it seems to be playing it, you can see the time move on the time bar, but you cant hear anything. It kinda just started doing this after i tried to plug it into a friend of mines tape deck.
I have already tried reseting it, restoring it, and running diagnostics on it. Nothing has worked yet. Ideas?

Plugging it into your friends tape deck? To the record in, or the line out of the deck? You might have blown your headphone output on your ipod. Not saying thats whats going on for sure, but it sounds that way. if you have tried all the above steps. Good luck! Tobe

Re: Ipod help
Here's an idea for ya. Stop being hypnotized by flashy Apple ads, do some research, and get a player that wont crap out on you after some use. I dont understand why anyone in the world would want to own an ipod versus the tens of better choices from companies like Iriver and Creative. The only advantage IPods have is that theyre optimized for macs, so for people with macs theyre a more convenient choice. Sound quality, construction, etc are far superior on other products. But anyway...I dont really see why youre lookin' for answers on this forum. Try the Apple forums, or call customer service. Sounds like a job for them

Re: Ipod help
It's probably a damaged contact or broken wire on the headphone input.
