is it the seller or usps?

I purchased two items on the bay from same seller with 99.8% feedback rating and well over 2000 feedback posted for him. I get an email stating my package will be shipped using paypal usps priority mail shipping on feb 3 and then gives me the link to check status. the seller is in California and I in vegas so the distance is very close. it is now feb 18 no package arrived the tracking still states usps was notified by shipper electronically on feb 3 and that this doesn't indicate usps has received the package for mailing (this is indicating the seller purchased the label online and setting up a pickup date for uspsto pickup the package)
I complained to the seller about it and he said he shipped it and that it is either lost or in transit (if it was in transit the tracking would say it was processed at some facility right?) so yesterday he says he will ship new ones to me and that usps will be picking up the packages. I requested a new usps label number but he said there was no need to since usps never processed or delivered the first time.
is this correct can he use the same label number to reship again when he purchased it online and scheduled it to be picked up on feb 3?
something doesn't sound right about this. Im pissed his distance from me is like only 6 or 7 hours and I still haven't received anything nor the tracking showing any package received by usps only the fact that he got the label and pickup schedule online.

so what do you think. is usps screwing up or the seller is trying to pull one on me?

USPS tracking numbers are useless.

I've had packages arrive with the tracking number still saying that UPS has only been notified electronically. They are pretty bad at updating that info sometimes.

They are not good at updating their tracking info, but he cannot use the same number again. The tracking number is generated at the time the label is purchased. Even via parcel post, you would have received it before now.

Apparently he can use the same label number because i just tracked it using the same label number as before this evening, and it showed that it was processed at the las vegas facility today, so i should get the package tomorrow.
big sigh of relief!
I still hate usps

USPS has bad tracking but fair prices. UPS has good tracking and robs you on shipping, duties, brokerage, more duties, taxes, anything else they can add on.

yes, when it comes to shipping big packages UPS can get pricey but i've had the most problems with USPS, i ship and demand ups nowadays, at least they have a good tracking system. As far as evilbay, i will no longer buy from sellers who strictly ship usps. I've had it with them.

usps is only good for mailing letters at best. as far as tracking goes, forget it. i am done with evilbay and done forever with paypal. i'm also never sending anything via usps again. their tracking is not really tracking, it only says if someone signed for it or not. use ups, they are better, even though they still make mistakes. and even fedex.... it once took them 3 months to get a package to me from family in los angeles and they sent it 2nd day air...... granted, these were rare, and mistakes happen, but i would put usps last on your list.

When I have something shipped it is often from the USA to me in Canada. For this UPS is not a good choice. Sure it's fast and the tracking is good but you will pay a fortune. I've bought items that cost $70.00 and paid $70.00 shipping. With USPS it takes a while but the costs are reasonable.

I almost always use USPS, no problems. No tracking either, but no problems. UPS by me is the worst.

Re: is it the seller or usps?

I never had any problems usps. I've used them myself several times. I bought a guitar boy from a guy up in Chicago and I live 3 hrs away. It took them almost a week to ship... So, give it a couple of days and if nothing arrives then contact the seller or usps.

Good Luck!!
