ISP Connection Speed Test.

Being frustrated by my supposed high speed I went to
http://www.dslreports.com/stest
and did a test. 355 download, which is respectable....for wireless cell phone connection. but only 20kb/sec upload. What a rip.

Whats yours?

Re: ISP Connection Speed Test.

I just switched from DSL to cable, after I realized how insanely slow it was.
For the same price as the DSL, I now have cable.
So, I went from 800 down, 300 up, to 11 MB down, 1 MB up.
I'm so happy.............!

Re: ISP Connection Speed Test.

$39/mo year promo 20/5 (down/up) package which is the fastest they sell around here for home. they're ultra agressive going for TV/IP-phone taking away lots of cable business.

my whole town was wired for fiber last summer so it's sorta scary to see people with 20/5 connections and no real need... a 56g wireless laptop fetching AOL email. alot of drive-by-free-bandwidth i guess, except verzion sets up accounts with WPA wifi enabled at least... glen

Re: ISP Connection Speed Test.

their prices i guess are very regional. DSL was offered here last year at $14.99 or $19.99/mo (1-2mb down)

the "triple play" package is $95 here which includes ip phone (unlimited calls), TV channels (ie. digital cable) and 20/5 internet. ($10-15 tripleplay discount not that significant). they have the bandwidth and are blowing it out taking about 1/2 of comcast's customers (internet and TV).

i switched to their TV service last week but use Vonage for home phone for feature set.

if you dont have comcast or other alternates in town (and/or the town is not wired fully) expect to pay more i guess... glen

Meh, it's AOL. It works. (only after bitching incessantly for a week or so..!)
