I have a fan pointed at my computer under the table and the CPU hit 70 degrees AT 3 AM !. I bought a new 19" LCD and I'm to use during the day because it gets really hot.

I'm in central queensland. So far it hasn't been as hot here as the rest of the east coast and it's the only place on the east coast that isn't in drought but this week it's been ridiculous. Apparently it's the westerly wind blowing the hot air out from the center of Aus.

Naaaw. Global warming is apparently a load of rubbish. There was a documentary on TV recently and it said there is no scientific evidence at all that we are warming up the earth. I didn't see it, but I've been told about it.

Back in the 70's it was global COOLING! They said we were all gonna freeze to death!

You should watch Al Gores movie and there is a canadian doco out there about the "opposer's" of global warming, they are a group of specialists who have been paid by exxon to publically oppose global warming and they are the same group of specialists who were paid by the tobacco companies to oppose the health threats of cigarettes.

Well I beg to differ mate!!! the damage to the ozone layer has allowed the sun rays to hit us more directly or with less shielding which is causing the poles to melt thus creating a bunch of weather issues!!!

I liked the line about the global cooling!!!

Re: IT'S 42 DEGREES C (107 fahrenheit)

In the 1860s -so just after the industrial revolution when CO2 production was booming- it was already discovered that a fairly small amount of CO2 would retain as much heat as a log of wood. But the so-called scientists back then wavered off that discovery -to the frustration of the guy who'd discovered it- and started speculating about a frigging new ice age -yes already in the 1870s- for which there wasn't a shred of scientific proof whatsoever. So 'science' has known about global warming for a century and a half and just ignored it to go chasing ghosts. It was simply too inconvenient to claim all the good things that had brought 'prosperity' (at least to the rich and 'civilized', 'thinking' class) were bad for the planet...just look at how long it took them to tackle acid rain, of which the cause was plainly obvious. (Oil companies are still selling leaded fuels in Africa...not with some less environmentally damaging additive, but LEADED fuel. )
At this moment, we're increasingly producing a gas that likes to retain heat which as a result of combustion is already hot when it hits the atmosphere, we cut down all the trees that could absorb the gas -and couldn't keep up anyway-, produce even more CO2, destroy the layer of gas that bounces off the solar rays that will now heat the Earth's surface and then WONDER why it's getting warmer outside and why it won't cool down.
Logically, because of the Earth's gravitational field, our atmosphere is functioning like a pressure vessel, so all the gas that's produced will increase that pressure, causing the temperature to rise. It's not like our atmosphere will expand significantly when so much mass/gravity is keeping it together like it is now.
These things are so OBVIOUS that scientists feel they MUST DISAGREE for the sake of science. Those scientists aren't denying the process, they're denying its scale.

Recently NASA has observed on polar caps on another planet (Mars?) that the sun's output must have increased. This will also accelerate the global warming effects.

You guys do realise we aren't killing the Earth, right?

The Earth will recover when the humans disappear.

Re: IT'S 42 DEGREES C (107 fahrenheit)

You can blame Global Warming on some things, but not on this. We have only just finished summer in in Australia, so those sort of temps are not that uncommon. Its still friggin hot though... We've had a few 40+ days here in Adelaide this summer and let me tell you, it sucks... Thank the lord above for Air Con's.

You guys up in Qld suffer form the crazy humidity too, yeah??? Humidity is worse than the heat, IMO.

Thank god winter is around the corner.
