Jemsite Golf Thread?
I thought such a thread existed, but maybe it got purged...
Who plays? Anyone play any spectacular courses? Regularly play scratch golf? Bought a new set of clubs lately? Hit a car or livestock?
I just moved onto a golf course (small course, par 62, just under 5k yards from the blue, rating/slope is 61.5/100) and I haven't been able to get out and play yet.
I've been playing since I was like 8 years old... so like 17 years now. Taken private lessons for a while, played a few tournaments in high school, haven't gotten out nearly enough in the last few years. Hopefully that will change this year (even with summer classes).

Re: Jemsite Golf Thread?
I love golf! Haven't played for years but I do enjoy it. I'm not very good though, it takes a lot of skill.

Re: Jemsite Golf Thread?
Last 3 rounds were in double digits so I think I finally broke my 30 handicap. My goal for this year is to break 90 at least once. Obviously I suck, but it's an addiction

Re: Jemsite Golf Thread?
Golf is one game I have never understood, but in fairness I have never tried.
I could see it as good excuse to go out and drink some beers and ride around in a golf cart though.

Re: Jemsite Golf Thread?
My current Handicap is 16 the lowest I had it was a 9.
Living in Houston is great for golfers there must be close to 100 golf courses here in town.

I live on a Arnold Palmer course called Longwood. It is a wonderful course. But my favorite here in Houston is Tour 18.
They took the 18 most famous holes of golf in the US and put them on one course. It is amazing to play.

That's fine, because if you try to understand it, you'll never be any good at it
Kinda like guitar
After years of playing, I seem to have fallen into a slump with topping drives (consistantly
) I've never had that problem before.

Re: Jemsite Golf Thread?
I generally hit around 105-110, but I only get a chance to get on a course a few times a year. I did shoot a 95 last fall, which felt pretty good.
I gauge a good round not by the score, but by the number of balls it takes to complete it.

LOL... same here.
I can break into double digits, but I never seem to have the time. I did not play at all last year, but maybe this summer.

HA!
I need to get out and play. We've got massive amounts of rain today and I am behind on homework anyway.
Need to get my game into shape quick though... my dad has a charity event every year that started out as 3-4 foursomes and is now 150-200 golfers. Two years ago my group finished like 2nd or 3rd. Hoping to win this year.

that reminded me of a friend's comment about balls
"why do you bother buying those expensive balls?"
"theyre better"
"yeah but they make barely any difference and just make losing them a big deal!"
"yeah but you will be less likely to lose them"
then came my witty response
"only cos you spend longer looking for them"
